The key to getting up pet stains is to do it as soon as possible.

Here are a few basic supplies you need to keep.

  • Paper towels

  • Club soda

  • Baking soda or salt

  • Hydrogen peroxide (3%)

  • Ammonia

  • Pet odor neutralizer

  • Stain remover made for pet stains

  • Carpet or upholstery cleaner

Urine

Blot with paper towels. Pour club soda on the area, then blot with more paper towels. Next, apply the pet odor neutrilizer according to directions. If the stain remains, use the stain remover designed for pet stains.

Feces

Remove solids then blot up any moisture with paper towels. Then follow with the cleaning procedure for urine.

Vomit

As quickly as possible, scoop up solids and apply baking soda or salt. When dry, vacuum up the rest. Follow by pouring club soda on the area, then blot with paper towels. If stain remains, use carpet cleaner or stain remover designed for pet stains.

Overturned plant

Vacuum up soil. For stains, let any remaining soil dry, then vacuum again. Apply club soda and blot with paper towels. Follow using the carpet cleaner.

Other

For difficult to remove matter, follow the cleaning procedures for urine. If stains remain, mix 1/2 cup peroxide with 1 teaspoon of ammonia and apply solution to stain. Rinse with club soda to remove mixture residue.
