In addition to the standard F type, another new model of Zaku II was produced after the opening month of the One Year War - the limited-edition S type, a high-performance model designed for company commanders. The MS-06S was equipped with a communications antenna, and its thruster output was 30% more than that of a normal Zaku II.
This rare variant was assigned only to the most deserving Zeon aces. Two such pilots were Major Char Aznable, who won reknown by single-handedly destroying five Federation battleships during the Ruum Campaign, and Anavel Gato of the Space Attack Force.
