Ahmet Kayikcioglu was born in the Mandira village near the city of Kirklareli, and every year the people there have their Kayikcioglu Mehmet Wrestling Festival to honour the man who was the 1928 Kirkpinar Champion in Edirne, He was coached by Tekirdagli Huseyin and Hayrabolulu Suleyman Pehlivan.
