Emir Barhan at the 1999 Amsterdam Kirkpinar.

Emir was born in 1977 in Wormerveer (The Netherlands). Family originates from Giresun in Turkey. Brother of oilwrestler Selim Barhan and living in: Assendelft (The Netherlands)

First oilwrestling contest: Amsterdam Kirkpinar 1997. This Pehlivan was a well known judoka and grabbed a second place in the Deste Büyük group durting the Amsterdam Kirkpinar 1999. Emir was 3rd in the Büyükorta of the Amsterdam Kirkpinar 2000 and 2nd at the 2001 AK.

Two weeks later Emir entered the Edirne Kirkpinar 2001 as representative from the Edirne-area in the KÜÇÜK ORTA KÜÇÜK BOY, a group with the greatest number of participant (164) an also a class higher than other Dutch participant at this Edirne, Kadir Yilmaz.

Emir Barhan was defeated in his first bout in Edirne by MURAT SACAKLI uit BALIKESIR.
