It was impossible, it had to be. Buffy had been in denial for so long. She had seen the signs for a long time, six weeks. She was late, so late that she was actually late for the next months period. She had also been feeling really nauseous. She had even thrown up a couple of times, but luckily for her those were times nobody were around, but she couldn't be that lucky every time.

Now she was sitting alone in the bathroom with the white cotton stick in her hand, trying to make the clear blue stain pink, by staring at it. She had been sitting there like that for almost half-an-hour. Her mother would be home in less than an hour. She was not ready to tell her mother that she was pregnant. Pregnant, by her vampire lover, or her ex-vampire lover, who was now focusing on killing her friends. She wasn't ready to tell anyone. Because she knew everybody would doubt her. She could almost hear them now "Vampires can't have kids and yada yada yada..." She got tired of just thinking about it.

Another ten minutes went before she rose and cleaned up after her, leaving no clue for her mother to find. She put the test and the box into the garbage can and took out the garbage. Right after, she fell backwards onto her bed and closed her eyes, this was definitely not the situation she wanted to be in, especially not now. She was barely seventeen, and already on her way to motherhood. It wasn't fair.

About three weeks before their special night, when she had the whole stupid egg-project, she had told him that she wasn't thinking of having children for many years and he had told her that he couldn't have kids. She knew that he had both lied and told the truth. The lie was obvious, she was six weeks along with his child, but she knew that he had believed in it, so that was how he also had told her the truth. He didn't know that he was just as capable of fathering a child as anyone else.

For the first time, she put her hand on her abdomen and thought about the baby. She knew, not just from the normal signs and the test, but from a gut-feeling, that there was a child inside her. A very little child, that couldn't help for it's existence.

Buffy went out on patrol, even when everybody told her not to. They all thought she had the flu. She didn't care. She had to be there in case... she couldn't even think his name without there being pain inside her and tears welling down her cheeks. She jumped down from the wall and walked over the cemetery, stake in hand. She heard a sound coming from behind her and turned around to stake the creature, who was going to attack her.

- Xander, she yelled in both anger and relive. - What are you doing here?

- I was going to ask you the same thing, you shouldn't be here. You're sick. We're covering.

- No, I have to be here in case...

- In case Angel comes?

The name, his name made a pain in her chest explode.

- You guys were expecting me? Gees, leave it to you guys to ruin my fun.

There were silence. He looked at her.

- I hear you're not feeling well, lover. That'll make it less fun, killing you.

He took a blow at her. She tried defending herself, but after finding out about the baby, she was more protecting her stomach and he got in several blows to her head.

- Nope, still fun.

- Hey, overbite, Xander yelled, distracting him enough so Willow and Cordelia covered his head with a bag.

They managed to get such a apprehend, that Angel ran. Buffy rose and looked at her friends.

- I told you... home.

She fell to the ground, scaring everybody.

- Well, well, the doctor said, looking strictly at her. -You shouldn't go out fighting, when you're expecting. This could have gone mighty wrong.

- Huh..?

First she was a bit delerious, but then she remembered it all.

- You didn't tell them about my, eh... condition, did you?

- No, I feel that it's you who should tell them, since it's you it's about.

- Have you told them anything?

- Only that the fainting was normal, that there was nothing wrong.

- I'm sorry to ask you this, but do you think you could help me with a cover? I'm not ready to tell them.

- You can't hide it, it'll show in a couple of months and the longer you wait, the harder it'll be.

- I know, but please. This is so not the right time for me to tell them.

- Ok, I'll tell them that you were anemic, you really are that, because of the pregnancy. I'm subscribing iron tablets for you.

- Thank you, for both.

- Remember, it'll show in a few months.

- Yes.

The Scooby-gang and Buffys mother were waiting in the hall, worried to death. When the doctor came out they all rose.

- There's nothing to worry about. She's a bit anemic, that's why she fainted, but that's all. I'm subscribing some iron tablets and you can take her home.

- Thank you, Joyce said. She had been quite scared.

Buffy came out about five minutes later. With the tablets in her hand, ready to go home. She was relieved that the doctor didn't tell them what the real reason for her fainting was.

- Buffy, it feels like I haven't seen you for months.

Buffy lowered her sword, Angel was back. He had been given his soul again. She could see it in his eyes, that it wasn't just Angelus playing a trick on her. He was really back. She fell to her knees and embraced him, crying. He kissed her gently, she kissed him back. Then he felt it, it was like there was an other person in the room, but he couldn't see anyone. Then he noticed that Buffy had put on some weight. It suits her, he thought.

- I love you, she said, crying and clinging to his body.

- I love you too, he whispered into her ear. - Shhh, it's gonna be all right.

She saw there weren't much time as the mouth of Acatla opened. She took his hand and placed it on her swollen abdomen.

- You're gonna be a dad, she told him.

Then he felt it, that was the other person in the room. A baby, his baby. He felt the heart beat. She rose, making him stand up too. Then he heard the noise behind him.

- What was that, he asked.

- Shhh, close your eyes, she whispered and he did.

She gave him a passionate, loving kiss. He responded. Then she did, what she knew, she had to do. She quickly drove the sword into him.

- Buffy, he yelled, not wanting to leave her, but he too, knew that she had no choice.

She stood at that place watching the love of her life disappear for all eternity. She started crying and sank to the floor. Knowing that she had nowhere to go, she decided to leave Sunnydale. The school had kicked her out, as well as her mother, and all she did was putting her friends in danger, by being there. Noone of them knew about the baby. So, she doubted that they'd look for her.

- Anne, table number five need waitering.

- Right on it boss, she yelled and walked towards the table.

Her working name, was Anne. She used it so nobody could find her. She wasn't ready. She had picked Anne, because it was her middle name. She had been lucky to find work, in her condition. She had applied to six different jobs, before she came to a place desperate enough to hire a pregnant girl. In the contract, she could demand a three months salary, when she had the baby. And three months off. After that she could continue or quit, it was all up to her. She had also been lucky to find a small place, she could afford. She was saving money, the best she could, but it wasn't much. Then she had met Lily.

She had once saved Lily from vampires, when Lily had worshipped them, but now she had grown up. Lily got into trouble again, but also this time Buffy saved her. They also made an arrangement. Buffy managed to get Lily a job at the diner, she worked on. Lily moved into the apartment and helped her with the rent and other bills, so Buffy could manage to save more money to the baby.

She was now in the eight month, she felt like a whale, there she walked. She had found out what she was having, a girl, at a free clinic. And the girl was kicking like crazy. It was more like a rumba in there. This was her last day. She had explained it to her boss that she was going home to face her family. She understood, luckily for Buffy. She had even thrown a baby shower for this young girl. She had been really grateful for that, because she would need it. She had a even rougher time ahead of her, than she had already had. Both she and her boss knew that. Claire, which was her name, had once been in the same situation, only that she had been nineteen. Buffy was only seventeen, which made it even harder.

Buffy was now sitting in the bus, with everything she owned, it wasn't as much as she would want it to be, but at least it was something.

When she arrived in Sunnydale, she changed her mind. She didn't go back to LA, but she didn't go to her mothers house. Instead, she went to the mansion. She decided to stay there until she felt ready to face them. She went in and looked around. She eventually found a suitable room, even though it was Dru's room. She loaded off her stuff. and fell asleep on Dru's bed.

The gang was looking for her like crazy. Giles had been all over the country, following little unclear clues. Willow and Xander had been researching like crazy and they had even found out how to bring Angel out of the demon hell. It had taken Angel some time to get rid off the pain, but he never blamed Buffy, not out loud, not in his head. He was just worried, about her, about the baby. It didn't take him long to understand that she hadn't told anyone else about the baby.

It didn't take long before Willow found an other spell. It was a spell to make him human. When she asked him, he said yes, hoping that he would be able to search for Buffy in sunlight.

***

Buffy woke up by a noise. She heard voices out by the statue. She carefully lured closer and saw who they came from. She saw Giles, Willow and Xander, but they didn't see her. She knew, they weren't searching for her here. She could guess, they were looking for more clues. She thought it was for finding out what happened to Angel, but that wasn't true. They were looking for a clue to where she had went. They had done this for the last five months. Angel didn't come with them because he couldn't imagine to face the mansion again, he had instead been living in his old apartment.

They were there for about an hour, without finding anything. She was relieved to see that they were all ok. Willow was out of the wheel chair and Giles had no more wounds. They were all alive. She sighed.

***

- Push, Buffy. Push, the doctor instructed her.

She did her best, but it was just so much pain. This baby wanted to come out and it didn't take the easy way. She had never guessed that it was this painful. She had understood that it was a lot of pain, but she hadn't even been close to imagine it. It had been about three hour after the gang had left the mansion. Neither one of them had seen her and she had been relieved, but then the baby decided to come out. And here she was, pushing like crazy.

- Oeee!!!

The cry of the baby was incredible. She was a lot smaller than Buffy had ever imagined, but still she had those powerful lounges. She had to laugh of the sound. Then she got to hold the little one, her daughter. She recognized the eyes from anywhere. Those were Angels eyes. Hazel brown and soulful. Then she knew what to call her, Alayah.

- Hey, Alayah, she said to her daughter.

***

She was nervous, really nervous. It was now over five months since her mother had thrown her out of the house. Was she going to let her in or slam the door in her face. Alayah was looking up at her from the baby belt, Buffy had gotten right after the birth. She had just been released from the hospital and paid the bill. She didn't have much money left. She carefully knocked on the door.

***

The whole gang was gathered in Joyce's house. They were discussing for the thousand time, where Buffy could be, when they heard the knock. Joyce went to open the door and was shocked to see who was behind it. Buffy looked at her nervous and held her daughter protectingly. Joyce could see the baby, very well and when she gave Buffy a hug to show her that she wasn't mad, she was careful. She could clearly see that it was a newly born baby both at the baby and Buffys figure.

- I'm sorry, they both said, simultaneously.

Everybody rushed out when they heard Buffys voice, especially Angel. Buffy had let Joyce take the little one, so when Angel saw her, she didn't have the baby belt on her. He ran towards her and picked her up, kissing her gently, whispering 'I love you's to her. Joyce was overwhelmed over how they had reacted, when they saw each other. Both Buffy and Angel started crying, holding around each other. Buffy was overwelmed by the feeling of his heart beat. Every doubt over Buffy and Angels love was long gone with this scene. It took ten minutes before Alayah decided to tell her presence. Both Buffy and Angel reacted immediately. Buffy walked towards Joyce and picked up Alayah from Joyce's arms and giving her to Angel.

- She's so beautiful, he said, stunning everyone, by revealing that he knew about her.

- I never thought I would get the chance to hear you say that, Buffy answered him. - She has your eyes. I noticed that, the first time I held her.

- When was she born?

- Two days ago, in Sunnydale general hospital.

- How long have you been her, Joyce asked.

- Three days.

- Where?

- In the mansion, I saw you guys when you were looking for clues.

- Why didn't you reveal you yourself?

- I wasn't ready.

- Why didn't you tell me you were pregnant, Joyce asked.

- First I wasn't ready and then I thought it was to late.

- Oh, honey, Joyce exclaimed, giving Buffy a gentle, but firm hug.

- What's her name, Angel wanted to know.

- Alayah.

- It's a beautiful name.

***

It was now seventeen years later. Buffy and Angel had gotten married not long after the reunion between them. After Alayah, they had two boys and an other girl. The oldest boys name was Sean. He was now 15 years old, then it was Patrick, who was 14 years old. The other girl was now 10 years old and her name was Caitlin.

Alayah had inheritated her mothers strenght and had been a vampire slayer for the past three years. Like her mother she got an early interrest in boys and she was also determined to have a normal life, just like her mother.

One day she approached her mother very careful.

- Mom, can I talk to you?

- Sure, sweetheart. What is it?

- I'm pregnant.

- WHAT!?!
