Prologue

Buffy kicked the vampire in the chest, but it was all in vain. There were too many. Wounded and weak, she sank to her knees in the mud, the rain pelting down on her. Suddenly, the vampires disappeared. Buffy looked around wildly, but did not move, the knife wound almost paralyzing her.

Suddenly a man picked her up. Buffy was made to drink something which knocked her out and they took her away. To Alanon.

*~*~*~*~*~* Buffy stirred in her sleep. Queen Serene knelt at her bedside, as her long lost daughter tossed and turned. Serene had looked for her daughter, Seraphina, for so long, Serene felt ill with pleasure to see her baby alive

“ Milady, supper is upon the table,” Carlia nodded. Carly was a hand maiden. She came from Burganon. She had silver skin and red hair. She lead the Queen to the table.

“Serene, the child will eventually wake up,” the Court Head, Deron, said.

“Deron, we are both... our time has come. We are going to pass soon and you know it. If we don’t pass, Sera shall most likely take over,” spat Serene.

“ I am quite aware of that, Serene, but you are fussing far too much,” Deron stood up and left. Serene groaned and wished her mother was there. She had ruled the three hundred planets for so long and couldn’t even control her chosen husband. Serene Starrey was Queen of the Binding. Her mother, Dameria Starrey had established the Binding with a little assistance from her mother Vena Starrey.

She had sent her daughter to Earth, the only planet not of the Binding. Seraphina didn’t know her mama and adopted the name Buffy. She was chosen as Slayer, which disgusted the Alanonions. She had made Deron Court Head in a moment of madness, he almost had more power than Queen Serene herself all Starrey women had remained independent, except Serene, whom had a mental breakdown were Seraphina had been lost to Alanon.

Sera stood up, her gown made of yellow satin. Her white blonde hair was arranged on her head. The crown or tiara sat there as well. Each Queen of the Binding had a gem. Vena’s had been Crystal, Dameria’s had been amethyst, Serene’s had been garnet and Seraphina’s was jade and emerald.

Carly raced into the room. “Queen Serene ? Seraphina is awake.”

Serene raced through the hallways. There was Seraphina, sitting up with a cup of herb tea.

“What’s going on ?” Buffy asked.

Chapter One - Never Forever

Buffy learned her family history and settled in well. She made friends with Jamie and Carly and Howen. Most people addressed her Princess Sera. It took awhile for that to really hit home. The Festival of Alanon was about to begin. Flowers and garlands decorated the entire city of Alanon, including Starrey Palace. Then Deron passed on.

Buffy felt remorse, but he wasn’t her father. The funeral was held instead of the festival. He had been a much liked member of the Royal court.

The city went bleak. Their only man who had some say in the Binding’s ruling had passed. People wore black for an entire month. Buffy refused to wear black, Serene laughed. That was when Sera found out she was pregnant.

“Sera, dear, it’s going to be okay. The Starrey woman are immortal,” Serene said, as they walked the gardens. “I can’t wait to see my granddaughter !”

“Mama, I was reading that book on prophecies. The fifth girl in the Starrey line to be Queen of the Binding is the one to destroy the Vampires. After the Great War of the Binding,” Buffy looked at the ground.

“ Yes. It also says that the Third Queen will be the key to stop the Great War from happening. So stop worrying. I’m going to my garden. Go see Carly about some supper,” Serene waved her on.

Buffy turned back to the Palace. The men of the village mined the crystal and quartz from the surface of Mercury and Jupiter. It was a tiring job, but that was what the Palace was made of. Crystal and quartz, glass and pearl. It had taken three hundred years to finish, but was worth all of it.

Buffy hurried into the Palace kitchen to talk to Carly about supper.

“I’ll get Zetto straight to it,” Carly bowed.

Buffy went and sat on her bed. Her pet Cara was sleeping there. Cara was an Ashia, like a cat, except with two ears about 35 centimeters above her head. Her tail was that of a serpent. She was green. Buffy petted her and dozed off.

She woke up hours later to Noelen shaking her.

“Princess Sera. Princess Sera. I have some bad news,” he shook her.

“What is it Noelen ?” she asked, sitting up.

“Queen Serene is dead,” he murmured.

Buffy jerked awake.

When you feel all alone And the world has turned its back on you Give me a moment please to tame your wild wild heart I know you feel like the walls are closing in on you It’s hard to find relief and people can be so cold. When darkness is upon your door and you feel like you can’t Take it anymore

Let me be the one you call If you jump I’ll break your fall Lift you up and fly away with you into the night If you need to fall apart I can mend a broken heart If you need to crash then crash and burn You’re not alone.

The funeral was very depressing. Millions of citizens of the Binding crammed into the Church of Alanon. Buffy was dressed in a silk black gown and veil. The pregnancy was showing through the dress. Prays were said.

Bitter tears flowed down her cheeks. Her mother was dead.

When you feel all alone And a loyal friend is hard to find You’re caught in a one way street With the monsters in your head When hopes and dreams are far away and You feel like you can’t face the day.

Let me be the one you call If you jump I’ll break your fall Lift you up and fly away with you into the night If you need to fall apart I can mend a broken heart If you need to crash then crash and burn You’re not alone.

Buffy left the Church first on the arm of Jamie, her Minder. There was a banquet in the Palace Gala Room. Carly, Zetto and his helpers had been cooking a storm all week. She went straight to her room, feeling quite ill.

The citizens feasted in honour of Queen Serene’s memory. Buffy sank back into the pillows and wept for her mother.

Chapter Two - This Is My Life (Seven Months Later)

Buffy cradled her daughter, Sabia Willow Serene Joyce Summers Starrey. It was custom for the new Princess to have her grandmother’s name. She was Christened in the Church of Alanon. She was now six months old. Princess Sabrina, as she was called, was spoiled rotten. Her bedroom was a slightly smaller room than her mother’s, painted amethyst purple. There was a cradle with satin blankets. Dolls and teddies and toys lined every surface.

It was very extravagant for such a young child.

Buffy left her in Carly’s care, as Carly was her new Nanny. Buffy swept into the Board Room. Her Council was there with Jamie, Noelen, Howen and Zetto. Zetto was chef, Jamie was her Minder, Noelen was Captain of the Starrey Palace Army and Howen was advisor.

“Dundray has requested three extra tons of quartz and/or crystal. Their chapel was destroyed in a fire. This will cost us 300 rupees, cutting Dundray’s material budgets back to 9,700 rp,” Dundray’s Captain nodded.

Each planet had a Captain or Head. They traveled to Alanon once a week to tell the Queen exactly what was happening and what supplies were needed from the capital.

“As long as Dundray and Alanon can afford it, I’m happy for them to have the extra. Two tons of quartz and one ton of crystal,” Buffy nodded. The Supplies manager nodded and scribbled it down.

“Morte have one more shipment to trade on Earth - the gem stone Ashia’s Eye,” Head of Morte nodded.

“No. Earth would be unsure of this rare gem, trade within the Binding,” Buffy nodded.

“Carmoda school children are coming to Alanon next Friday to see how the system works,” nodded the Head of Carmoda.

“That’s fine,” Buffy stood up, signaling the end of the meeting. The Heads left.

“Jamie, I want to know a bit of family history,” Buffy asked quietly. “Come into the library, Cissy can bring us afternoon tea,” Jamie nodded.

*~*~*~*~*~* Vena Starrey was born in London in 1600 of Joan and Henry Goldings. Both Vena’s parents were members of the Watchers Council, so they taught Vena magicks to protect herself. Then London became very miserable. So Vena used her magicks to come here - to Alanon. She found many citizens, war weary. She established Alanon in a year. In 1623 she returned to her mama and papa. They kicked her out, saying she was a disgrace. She returned to Alanon, upset. She met Jusef Normans. They had Dameria.

Vena began to help the refugees in Alanon and then decided to establish proper armies to fight the Enemy. Back then there were seven hundred and fifty planets - the Enemy destroyed them. Four hundred and fifty planets. The War of Alanon continued well into Dameria’s life time.

Vena then returned to Earth alone, as if her childhood fantasy of Alanon had been that - a fantasy. Dameria was Queen at age 11. She designed the Palace herself. Vena returned once in 1689, married to Dameria’s human father, Jusef Normans. Jusef knew nothing of Dameria. Since she had resigned from the Binding, she was an old lady, no longer Immortal, as all Starrey women are.

Dameria was immortal. Dameria was upset her mother had returned, after abandoning her only child to take on a responsibility we can’t imagine how large. Vena told her daughter that she regretted her decision to leave Alanon and had come back here to die. Dameria and Vena spent a day in the fields that were then, the Royal Gardens.

Vena passed that night. She was buried under Queen Vena, as her dying wish. Dameria decided that the rickety house that she and Vena had dwelled in wasn’t fit for Royalty. The citizens agreed. The Starrey Palace was designed suitably for the land and built. It took most of Dameria’s life. She barely saw it at all, as she was battling the Enemy off.

Finally, as a last resort, Dameria bound all the planets the Enemy threatened. The remaining three hundred planets became ‘The Binding’. Dameria’s achievements took most of her lifetime. Serene was born during the construction of the Palace, just as the War of Alanon ended.. I was Dameria’s Minder as well as yours and your mother’s. The Palace was finished. It was quite an achievement. Then Dameria began work on the gardens. Serene was about 19 years old. Then Dameria had an accident on the swing in her garden. The wooden seat of the swing snapped away from the rope. Dameria fell to the stone ground and cracked her head open. She lay unconscious for a very long time before I came and found her. She was put to death there was too much damage for her to ever fully recover from.

Then the Enemy made their presence know again, by blowing up a patrol ship. Serene sent the armies out. Things were terrible everywhere in the Binding. She sent you to Earth as Hank and Joyce Summers’ unborn child.

The war finished twenty years later. Time on Earth is slower than the Binding. Serene had to wait until you were 19 until she could help you home. And now Queen Seraphina and Princess Sabia rule the Alanon.

The rest is coming.
