Sakura is the 10-year-old star of the story. "Sakura" means "cherry blossoms," She attends Reedington Elementary School. She's also a member of the cheerleading squad. She opened the Clow Book and accidentally released all the Clow Cards. She given a magical key from Kero, which transforms into a wand which allows her to capture the cards. In was then that Sakura became a Cardcaptor and recapture all the escaped Clow Cards.
As time goes on, Sakura learns and grows in her magic with each card captured, usually in unique and creative outfits designed by her best friend Madison.
Sakura sometimes has premonitions in her dreams. She also has a crush on Julian and hates the way Tori is always teasing her.

Her best friend Madison is the one of her friends who knows she a Cardcaptor. In the english version we are never told why she told Madison. But I saw a japanese episode that told. You see for some reason Madison was filming the night sky and saw Sakura flying on her staff.

She later runs into an obstacle name Li Showron. The never smiling exchange student that now competes with her for the Clow Cards. Then more trouble arrives in the form of Meilin. Who freaks out if Sakura even looks at Li.

In the Magna she's not very brave. In fact she is a total and complete coward. In the anime she's brave to certain extent. A good example would be the erase card. In anime she was terrified but with a little coaching from Li she did what needed to be done and was able to focus, concentrate and do it. But in the Magna it took all of Li's patience to get her to stop being a scardy cat and do what had to be done. She almost wasn't able to do it before Li disappeared because she was so terrified, but with Li's constant yelling, telling her what she had to do to captured it.
