Cardcaptors the Movie Review 2
Since this movie has never aired in English I couldn't write a review even if I was good at it. I don't remember where I found this summery but I've had it for a while avoiding it cause I needed to correct a few things. First I changed all the names into English and second which now I know why I was avoiding it. It was a major pain to redo it!! I don't know who wrote it but they must have just watched the Japanese version and did a simple translation cause half of it didn't make a lick of sense! It took 3 hours to fix it! I had to guess at a couple of parts since I've not seen the movie and whoever originally wrote it didn't bother to fix the spelling or grammar mistakes I had too so that it would make sense! So if you've seen the movie and something on here's not right please don't yell at me! Just be kind enough to tell me what I did wrong! I can only guess as to what was happening!
Thank You and Enjoy the review!

The 2nd Movie -
-The Sealed Card Movie-
-------------------------------
The movie starts at a deserted western-style house. It's being demolished and, with no one around at night, looks like a haunted house. Then suddenly something causes a small explosion within the house and a mysterious card is seen illuminating under the half-destroyed floor.
-- The Sealed Card Intro --
Sakura is fighting against monsters with Cerberus and Yue. There's a Fire Monster in the air. Sakura use Jump to get into it and Use Watery to defeat the Fire Monster. After that there's an Ice Monster attacking Sakura with his Ice breath, But Sakura deflects it by using Shield. Now its Yue and Kero's turn, Kero uses his Fire Breath to burn The Ice Monster's Breath. And Yue uses his Arrows to Break the Ice Monster. Now, The Last one is an Earth Monster and he's standing hugely behind Sakura and Yue. She Use Sword to Cut the Earth Monster and Finally all of the monsters are Defeated.
The battle it turns out was a video compiled by Madison. She's been watching it in Sakura's room with Sakura and Kero. She is very pleased with the outcome but Sakura is rather embarrassed with her enthusiasm, "It's even with background music." "I added it, of course." Kero is impressed with himself on the screen and starts it all over again. Now that Eli's gone, there's no more trouble in Reedington. Frustrated with the lack of opportunities to see Sakura in battle costumes, Madison had asked Sakura to let her make this video. The Create Star Card had made up all of the monsters.
The battle scene on the video is over and Li appears on the screen. The scene is from an old battle against a Clow Card, The Bubbles Card. Which Madison left unedited on the tape by accident. His image and voice make Sakura blush. She says to Madison, "You knew how he felt about of me, right? I was the only one who didn't." Madison tells her that her innocence is one of her charms. Sakura feels a little guilty because she hadn't answered him. Because he said it to her directly, she wanted to answer, but not by phone or a letter.
The Next morning, Sakura woke up late. The summer vacation had made her even more of a late riser but she has to go to school today to practice a play. Her class is going to play at the Natasha Festival of Reedington Town. Kero asked what role she was going to play, she tells him shyly, "The princess." Kero is very pleased to hear it and is looking forward to seeing the play. Before going downstairs she look at The Star Cards and Looked for The Nameless Card. Then Kero asked her "Are you going to school in your Pajamas?" Then she yelled loudly. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!
She went downstairs, where her father and brother greeted her as usual. Aiden is naturally looking forward to the play but Tori only makes his usual cynical comment, "With a play where a monster is the heroine, the Natasha Festival will be a mess." He will help out at a tea parlor at his college for the festival, with Julian. Hearing this, Sakura really wanted to go just to see him.
Sakura arrived at school slightly late. The other students had already started practicing but no one blamed her for being late. Nikki, who was both writer and director of the play, tells her some changes had been made to the scenario. Sakura immediately joined Zachary, who plays the prince, to practice the scene. Madison taped the scene of the rehearsal. It was where the prince confesses his love to the princess. Obviously that scene reminded Sakura of someone else.
On their way home, Sakura tells Madison how difficult it's for her to act. Madison assures her that she's doing fine and improving everyday. They come across a poster of Reedington's Playground, a new theme park. It's being built on the top of the hill, Next to Eli's House, and will open shortly. Madison suggests having a look Eli's House after school tomorrow and Sakura agrees cheerfully.
Sakura practices her lines in her room in the evening. "I want to see him. I want to see him to tell my true feeling..." At the time she saw Kero was dreaming about eating something till he was down on the carpet. Her thoughts flew to Li. Suddenly The Nameless Card shined when Sakura closed her eyes and started thinking about Li...
In the mean time, a young girl with 2 wings on her head occupied the top of the main tower of the Reedington Playground and looked down over the entire city.
Sakura and Madison went to the Reedington Playground the next day. It's not opened yet and the place is deserted. Suddenly Sakura senses something strange and starts running through the park in search of the cause. Turning a corner, she bumps into someone. To her great surprise, it's Li with Meilin right behind him.
They went down to Penguin Park. Meilin tells Sakura that they have just arrived in Japan. They hadn't told her because they wanted to surprise her. Li and Meilin would be staying for a while and would be able to watch the play at the festival. Then Meilin lowers her voice so that Li won't hear her; "What I said to you in my last letter is true. I've broken off my engagement with Li." She pretended that she didn't know who Li was in love with and tells Sakura she wishes "the girl" would answer soon.
In the mean time, Li chats with Madison. He wants to know if it was her who suggested Meilin to come to Japan over e-mails. She admitted it and asked him if the idea didn't suit him. Of course Li wanted to see Sakura but was afraid it would put Sakura in trouble. "Now she will feel forced to answer to me."
Meilin tells them that she and Li are going to stay with Madison while they are in Japan. Hearing this, Sakura suggests that they have supper together at her home. Meilin can't accept the invitation because she has things to do with Madison. She winks at Madison, who immediately understands what she means and tells the same thing to Sakura. Meilin asks Sakura to invite Li to supper instead.
So Sakura comes home with only Li. It's obvious, that their being alone together made them both feel rather uneasy. She offers tea and cake first. Sakura tries to put some sugar in tea for him but he says he can do it himself. As expected they turn the sugar bowl over and her hand touches his. This sends their tension to the maximum and Sakura decides to tell her feelings. "Li, I... I..."
But the crucial moment is spoiled by a rude interruption, when Kero flies into the room, having smelled the cake. Kero is a little surprised to see Li but the cake is more important. "You two were going to enjoy this cake without telling me!?" Sakura escapes, saying she must prepare for supper. Li makes a sarcastic comment about Kero's greed. Kero transforms into his true form and stomps on him in revenge.
In the kitchen Sakura is recovering from her earlier tension. Her heart thumping so hard she felt as if she was going to choke. Yet she was not disheartened. She was very grateful to see Li again and wasn't about to let the opportunity pass her by.
Sakura's spaghetti satisfies both Kero and Li. Kero leaves the room to go to bed. He's been playing video games all day and his eyes are really tired. But he doesn't forget to warn them, "If you do have dessert, don't forget to call me!"
Kero's departure meant another chance for Sakura to tell her feelings... only for a moment. This time, Tori came home with Julian. Tori doesn't even try to hide his hostility toward Li and another chance is gone.
Sakura sees Li off at the gate. He says he'll come to school tomorrow, which pleases her a lot. Tori remains unhappy and becomes a good target for Julian to tease.
In Sakura's room, where Kero was sleeping, something strange happened. One of the Star Cards, The Change, leaves the pack and flies out of the room into the sky. Neither Kero nor Sakura, who is still at the gate in a preoccupied mood, were aware of it. The card flies to the Reedington Carnival, where the small girl welcomes it.
Next day the boys and girls in the class were pleased to see Li and Meilin back. Zachary notices that he has grown a little taller. Meilin isn't too happy because Sakura apparently failed to tell him her feelings last night. But to Madison, it only means she might be able to film the crucial moment with her camera. Sakura arrives in the classroom and to start practice for the day.
On their way home, Meilin mounts another attempt to put pressure on Sakura. She speaks of the princess in the play, "What a stupid princess she is!" She thinks the princess should answer to him immediately. Sakura, too innocent to notice her message, only smiles.
The weather was so hot Sakura suggests that they go and get some juice. She found a nice shop recently. She runs up the hill cheerfully but stops at the top confusedly. If she remembers right, she should turn the corner with a postbox but can't find one. Madison can't tell if there was a postbox around there. Although Sakura remains confused, they decided to move on. None of them, however, notices the base of the postbox is there as if its top has been cut off with a sharp knife.
Sakura comes home, where Kero is playing a video game as usual. He makes a new record in the game. He suggests Sakura to write a letter to Eli because he wants to boast his score to Spinel. There seems to be a strange rivalry between them.
So she decides to write to Eli on her bed while Kero is peacefully sleeping next to her, with his letter to Spinel in his arms. She tells Eli that she is going to play as the princess, that a new theme park is being built where he used to live, and that Li and Meilin are here for the holidays. Thoughts of Li guide her into a happy sleep. Soon after she falls asleep, however, another card leaves the pack and flies away.
The next day the students rehearse the play at school wholeheartedly. Sakura is one of them although her attention occasionally gets diverted towards a certain boy.
On their way home, Meilin takes Madison away with her, leaving Sakura and Li alone again. Sakura tries to tell her feelings again but this time a big rabbit interrupts her. It's Tori in a rabbit costume for the festival. Tori obviously did it on purpose. Julian apologizes to the couple and says that he and Tori will buy ice cream for them, including Madison and Meilin, who come back at Sakura's scream.
They go to the square on Main Street to have ice cream. Sakura sits next to Julian, who asks her if she has found "the best one" for her. Sakura happily tells him she has but admits she hasn't told her feelings to the boy. Yet she assures him that she will.
Then another card escapes her bag and flies away. This time Sakura feels strange and opens her bag to check her belongings. Yet she fails to notice the loss of her cards.
Sakura, Li, Madison and Meilin walk home through the park. Sakura asks Li if he sensed something strange at the square. He said he didn't. So Sakura concludes she was only imagining things but something strange does happen in front of them. A bridge over a small river in the park is gone, as if cut with a sharp round knife.
Sakura tells Kero about the incident in her room. Kero can't think of any cause for such a mysterious event now that all the Clow cards have been collected and Eli has left. Then Meilin calls. She suggests she go to the Reedington Carnival tomorrow since they don't have to practice the play.
So the four of them go to the theme park the next day. This is another attempt by Meilin to give Sakura a chance. They had a wonderful time but Li looked a little preoccupied, which makes his cousin look more obvious; Meilin now wants to go on the Ferris wheel with Madison. Sakura and Li have no choice but to go in the same gondola.
Neither Sakura nor Li spoke in the gondola. While Li appears to be content watching the scenery, Sakura remains extremely tense. Soon their gondola reaches the top and now begins to go down. This may have made Sakura think that time is running out; she finally speaks to Li. "Li, I..., you know, I..."
Then another card flies away from her bag into the sky. This time both of them sense it and start chasing its feel as soon as they get off the gondola, leaving a bewildered Meilin and Madison behind.
They end up at a mirror house and enter it without hesitation. Both are feeling a Clow card. But why? Sakura has surely captured all of them! Then they see the small girl and chase her. It turns out that the girl stands on the other side of the mirror. Li suggests Sakura use The Through Card to catch her but the Sakura finds out the card is missing. Then the girl speaks to them, "Give my friends back to me." Three more cards flies from her bag into the mirror. Sakura tries to attack the girl with Wood, which turns out to be powerless before the girl and is then taken over.
Satisfied, the girl vanishes.
Sakura reports the incident to Kero that evening. He has no idea who the girl could be. Then the phone rings. It was from Eli in England. He has sensed that Clow's house has been demolished and Clow's 53rd card, sealed beneath the house, has been activated. The Nothing, No one, except Clow himself, knew of its existence and the card has never been used. All the Clow cards have a positive power to create something but this particular one has a power to negate everything. Clow created this troublesome card to stabilize enormous power of his positive card. Kero immediately understands the idea comes from Chinese Yin-Yang. He also realizes a far more important fact, "You mean the sealed card is as powerful as the other 52 cards put together!?"
Eli continues to explain the situation. The balance between the two powers has been broken as all the positive cards became Star cards. Sakura now knows the girl she saw in the mirror house is The Nothing. Eli asks Sakura if things around her have gone missing, her cards and part of the town. She remembers with a shock that the postbox and bridge were gone. He confirms her fear; "Every time she gets a Star Card, something near you will be lost, the town and people... Including Space and Humans" Eli's phone set suddenly emits a dim light. Ms. Mackenzie, who had been sitting next to him with Ruby Moon and Spinel Sun, urges him to hurry up. Eli tells Sakura that, if she can convert The Nothing into a Star card, the balance will be restored and everything will return to normal. But to do so, one's most cherished feeling must be sacrificed. Kero wants to know exactly whose. "The card will choose. The one with the most magic." Suddenly the line gets disconnected. The Nothing must have recognized Eli and erased the cable. Ms. Mackenzie asks him if he knows how this trouble will end. He says he doesn't.
It rained the next day but the rain didn't dampen the enthusiasm of the young actors and actresses. Sakura and her classmates were doing final rehearsals at school. Sakura's act impresses Mr. Terada and other students. The Festival is tomorrow.
After the rehearsal, Sakura tells Li about her conversation with Eli, which naturally surprises him, "Did he say what to do?" Sakura tells him how to solve the case... and its cost. At the final judgment by Yue, she saw a world where love is lost. It was unbearable and she doesn't want to see such a world ever again! To her great surprise, Li takes it calmly. "If there is no other way, it can't be helped." Sakura can't accept his words and the truth in them and runs away in the heavy rain.
As she runs blindly, she bumps into Julian, who doesn't fail to notice her tears. He takes her to Penguin Park and asks her what's happened. Seeing her reluctant to talk, he gently offers, "Is the other me a better person for you to talk to? He says he's really worried." Then Julian transforms into Yue, who immediately insists, "I didn't say 'really.'"
Having heard Sakura's trouble, Yue strongly sympathizes with her, "Why do you, of all the people, have to suffer always?" Sakura is pretty calm now and knows it's not only her but everyone who is suffering..., including Li. Yue tells her that Clow wouldn't have created a card which would only cause troubles to the world. There must be other ways to solve the problem, without losing one's most cherished feeling.
It's the day of Natasha Festival at last. Everybody in town enjoys this special day. But the girls of Sakura's class are a little nervous before their play. Meilin, Madison and Kero try to console Sakura without much success. Then yet another card flies away from Sakura's bag. As Eli warned, a big void sphere appears in the school ground, erasing everything within. To prevent a panic, Sakura activates Sleep but its power lasts only for a few seconds. Although she manages to repel The Nothing, Zachary gets injured when he fell under the power of Sleep. His injury is more than he can endure and Mr. Terada and some students suggest canceling the play. But he knows who can take his place, "You can, Li."
The show starts on the main stage in the evening. First Madison enchants the audience with her songs while others girls are busy fitting a costume on Meilin. She is going to join the play as a lady-in-waiting. Sakura is in a dressing room with Kero. He warns her that, because The Nothing attacked her at school, there is no reason why it wouldn't do so again here today. Madison rushes into the room. She is determined to lose no time to give a final touch to make her dear friend a princess. Kero wonders how it can be so important to her. Madison's answer is clear, "Everyone has his own priority. We must live everyday and not regret it later." Her words seem to have brought something to Sakura.
As the Evening Show Started with Madison's Song She sang the beautiful music called "koko No Kite". Meanwhile The Nothing card is ready to get into a Final Battle with Sakura.
The show is about to start. Aiden arrives at the theatre just in time and dodges through the audience to find a seat, which happens to be one next to Sonomi. He is sorry to miss Madison's song but her mother has made sure the scene was recorded on video. The mother of the video maker is certainly one herself and appalled to see Aiden has brought only a small camera on this special occasion of his daughter. "Oh dear..., all right, I'll make a copy of mine for you." With a click, her bodyguards in black are ready to film the play with professional equipment.
The play finally starts. It's a masquerade. The princess comes into the scene guided by her ladies-in-waiting, who believe she needs to refresh herself with fun to recover from an on-going conflict with the neighboring country over "the magic stone." But the princess is not too keen on dancing as she is not a good dancer. One of the ladies assures her that the best way to learn to dance is to dance with a gentleman who is good at it.
Urged by her maids, she walks into the ring of dance. But she doesn't feel like dancing with someone she doesn't know. Also whereabouts of the magic stone casts a shadow over her heart. It's said to bestow a mystery power on its owner and her country has been long fighting against the neighbor for its possession. The princess hates the conflict and thinks it's better if the stone vanishes completely.
A gentleman (Li) agrees with her. She wants to know who he is but he gently criticized her for her deed saying it's unsuitable for a masquerade. She admits this is her first appearance and, to her relief, he has never been to one, either. His men, who are concerned about his low spirit, have brought him here. Similar circumstances brought them closer and the princess agrees to dance with him.
The dance of the couple is probably the most beautiful scene of the play and enchants the entire audience, including Aiden and Sonomi. Well not "all" maybe. Tori and Julian arrives at the theatre and the dance of her daughter with the "pest" is the last thing he wanted to see .
The play moves on to the scene where the princess finds out "the gentleman" is the prince of her hostile neighboring country. The prince is brave enough to ignore politics, "I love you." The princess is, however, less adventurous. After much hesitation, she says, "I can't accept your love." "You don't like me?" "Yes! I... I... Please forget me! Please erase me from your heart!"
Then the lights over the stage blow off. It's an attack by The Nothing. Sakura can't do anything but watch as her favorite people, including her classmates and Tori, vanish. She is determined to go out and get them back!! Li wants to come with her. Madison comes in with her hand-made costumes, "then wear this." Meilin thinks this is not the time to go with Madison's hobby but the costume is far more important to Madison. "Sakura, you have never failed to come back to me with a smile in my costume. So come back here again with this one." Sakura is touched and promises she will come back with the costume she made for her. Madison hands another costume to Li, "It's not a good idea to sacrifice oneself. Help Sakura in this costume... and let me put you two in my video after the battle." Li replies gently but with determination, "I will."
Sakura and others come to the top of a building in the center of town. The view of the devastated town dismays Keroberous. Li knows the card is somewhere within the town but no one knows exactly where. More Star cards were stolen again. Sakura responds with Windy but even that card, one of the four fundamental elements, is powerless before The Nothing. In the end the sphere takes Madison and Meilin away. But the battle is not completely fruitless. Keroberous and Yue now know where The Nothing is. It's where Windy has flown to; Reedington Playground. There are only five cards left to Sakura and she has to face The Nothing with only them.
They fly to Reedington's Carnival. It's deserted... no, suddenly all the machines activate and the lights are lit up. Then horses on the carrousel become alive and started to attack them. Yue and Keroberous beat them off without much trouble but its obvious The Nothing now takes the control of the entire park.
Sakura uses Jump to jump up on the rail of the roller coaster but only to see the coaster storm towards her. Just before it runs over her, she activates Time to stop it. Then The Nothing comes to the scene, floating the sky in a black sphere. While Li warns Sakura that the power of Time is running out, she faces The Nothing and wants to know why the girl is committing such an atrocity. But The Nothing does not answer. She takes Jump and says, "Four to go." Time finally loses its power and the coaster hits Sakura. Keroberous barely saves from falling and hitting the ground.
Seeing there is no hope of negotiation, Yue attacks The Nothing First by using his Crystal and Arrow attack. But it has no effect on her! Then She Surrounds Yue with her Sphere and Finishes off Yue. "Impossible!" Keroberous said, And he use his Fire breath to Attack her. But has no effect? Upset, Keroberous tries to get close to her but gets erased. Li understands why, "Even the guardians of the cards were created by Clow. The Nothing that was created by Clow will be able to stand against The Nothing." Leaving Sakura who is almost in panic behind, Li confronts The Nothing for himself. His talismans and power are not from Clow and may be effective. He chases The Nothing, who enters a gondola of the Ferris wheel. He tries his lighting attack, which certainly has some effect on The Nothing but not enough to beat it. The Nothing shouts, "Don't get in my way!!" and another black sphere appears in the space around Li. Sakura uses Fly to rescue him but is a touch too late. She loses his sight.
Sakura is now left alone but has not given up. She chases The Nothing, who floats away to the main tower. But soon two more of her cards are taken away by The Nothing. Sakura barely escaped from the attack with her last card, The Shield. But even it's taken away by The Nothing, who smiles with satisfaction, "I've got all of them." Sakura still insists she will seal The Nothing and return everyone to normal. For the first time, The Nothing shows her emotion, and makes two holes one to the left and one to the right of Sakura. "I've been alone always... Confined in a dark cold place, I was so lonely. Now that I've got all my friends back, why do you want stop me?!" But Sakura doesn't think she's right, "That's not what friends are! Getting someone by force is definitely not friendship!" As if responding to Sakura's words, all the Star cards free themselves from The Nothing's sphere and now surround the sphere instead. The Nothing is shocked to see this and collapses into tears, "Why!? Am I not your friend!?", "Why Do You Hate me?", "Why??" Now the cards align themselves to make a bridge between Sakura and The Nothing. Sakura steps on it and approaches the weeping girl with a gentle look. "Don't worry. You can join us."
The Nothing said "You won't leave me alone anymore?" And Sakura said that She wouldn't and the Star Cards finally drop their guard so that Sakura could seal her. "Return to the shape where you should be, Clow Card!" (Return to your Power Confined!) Sakura knows this is the easiest part of the job; she has to convert it into her card. She shows a really sad look for a moment, "After all, I couldn't tell him my feeling." But she is determined to complete her duty, "You, Card created by Clow, drop your old form and revive under the name of Sakura!" ("I call upon the power of my star, ancient forces near and far, Clow Card, Discard all your might,
and draw your power from my light, Star Card")
Sakura prepares for the fatal moment to lose her most precious feeling but the magic storm from The Nothing attacks someone next to her. It's Li, "Thank Goodness, just in time..." The card chooses him because Sakura has been using so much of her magic power today, summoning so many cards. Li is now surrounded by a black sphere and yet bravely tells Sakura with a shy smile, "Even if I am to lose this feeling, I Still..." Now the conversion is over and Sakura collapses into tears.
She wasn't aware that her last card, the one she created herself, has flown out of her pocket and merged with the magic storm. Sakura hears a gentle whisper, "Don't cry. He's all right." To her surprise, The Nothing appears on the card and the card, which has been nameless, has now its name written on itself, The Hope.
Now everything should go back to what it used to be... except Li. She looks at him standing a little away from her. Sakura knows it's too late but finally tells her true feeling to Li. "You may not care about me even a little bit now but I don't mind. I love you. You're my No. 1!" As soon as she finishes her words, she bursts into tears. But a gentle voice answers her, "Me, too.... Sakura..." He didn't lose his feeling!!
While the entire town, including Sakura's favorite people, gradually recovers from the effect of The Nothing, Sakura can't wait for a moment. Even though Li tries to stop her, she jumps across a giant gap in the wall made by The Nothing between her and Li and jumps into his arms, "I really love you!!"
--The End--
