Hi, my names Sakura Avalon, I'm ten years old and in the fourth grade at Reedington Elementary School. My favorite subjects are P.E. and music. Above all I'm an active girl and I belong to the cheerleading squad. I'm also a Cardcaptor. What is a Cardcaptor? I'm still learning myself.

X One day I found this strange old book in our basement. It was glowing! When I opened it instead of pages, there was a deck of cards inside. When I picked up one of the cards and read it out loud -Windy- a huge wind kicked up and blew all the cards away!

All the commotion woke up Kero, short for Keroberous, who was supposed to have been guarding the cards and make sure they didn't get away. I guess you could say he fell asleep on the job-for thirty years. He was really upset when he found out that the cards were gone. As if it was all my fault! It turns out that I was born with my own special magic, that's how I was able to open the book. The Book of Clow contains 52 cards, known as Clow Cards. When the cards are released, it will spell disaster. It's the job of a Cardcaptor to capture each one of these cards before anything happens. I fight the spirits using the powers of the cards I have already captured. When the spirit is weak from fighting, I use the magic of my Sealing Wand to force the spirit inside the card. Kero gave me my Sealing Wand. When I'm not using my wand, it shrinks into a little key I wear around my neck like a pendant to make sure I don't lose it. You never know when you're going to run into a Clow Card. When I say the magic words, the key turns into my magical Sealing Wand.

I live with my dad, who's an archaeologist; he's also a Professor at the University. He studies ancient cultures through the relics they leave behind, like pottery, sculpture and books. He found the Clow Book. But he couldn't open it. Kero says it's because I am the only one on my family with magic. My mom's name was Natasha. She died when I was three. I have a lot of pictures of her, though. She worked as a fashion model! I miss her, but I know she always with me, somehow. You see, I have this dream…but more on that later.

I also live with my older brother Tori, who lives to tease and torment me. You know how big brothers are. He's in high school. We ride to school together in the morning-Tori on his bike and me on my skates. Not that he ever waits for me or anything. I don't know what the girls see in him. He always teases me and calls me Squirt. But Tori isn't always a pain (don't tell him I said so!) he does come to my rescue once in a while. Like when Li and I first met he tried to protect me. I guess he thinks teasing me is his job. From the outside he seems unsociable, however, the truth is kind and thinks about others all the time. Tori's had many part time jobs, such as taking care of fish at the aquarium and being a waiter at a coffee shop.

My best friend Madison Taylor is the only friend who knows that I'm a Cardcaptor. Madison has declared herself official Cardcaptor photographer. She makes movies of all my adventures. We watch them after the battle to try to figure out how I could do better. Madison doesn't only film me when I'm sealing Clow Cards. She takes videos at sports meets, on field trips, at summer camp and just about any other school event, as long as I'm involved. She even sneaked some shots of Julian and I hanging out. Madison's a good friend and everything, but she might be just a weensy bit strange.

Sometimes Madison makes a matching costumes for Kero. Madison has really made me a quite collection of Battle Costumes. I don't know how many. It seams like she lives to film scenes of me doing stuff with one of her costumes in, like sealing a Clow Card. Sometimes, though, the cards don't show up on cue.

Li Showron, an exchange student from Hong Kong, has come to Japan to take over as a Cardcaptor. The Showron family is a direct descendant from Clow Reed himself. Clow Reed is the person who created the Clow Cards. Li has been training as a Cardcaptor for years. Li uses his sword to capture cards the same way I used my wand. His sword also allows him to use the power of a card he already has.

The first day we met, Li pointed a funny game board at me. I found out that it is a Lasin Board. It let Li know that I was a Cardcaptor. Then he tried to take away all my Clow Cards! The Lasin Board can also be used to locate people.

He not always so serious, though. In fact one day I was so sick I couldn't hardly get out of bed but I had to seal the Cloud Card. After I captured it with help from Meilin it went to Li but he felt that I should have it.

She really likes Li, giving him plenty of hugs and packing him a lunch everyday. She's full of energy, very coordinated and excellent at Martial Arts. Meilin is even more competitive than Li is. She wants to be a Cardcaptor like me and Li and wants to help Li fight. However Meilin has no magical powers but that doesn't stop her from trying to help Li to capture the Clow Cards before me. In fact the first day we met she even took on the Fight Card.

She was very confrontational. When she first showed up she stole Li's Lasin board but unable to work it guessed and found the location of a Clow Card. It was the fight Card she even fought it. She did pretty good she held her own against it for a while. I finally had to use the power card to finish the job.

Sometimes Meilin becomes a little obsessive and scowls when I'm talking with Li. Over time she seems to have mellowed out. Now I'm getting friendly vibes from her. I hope we get closer before too long. She's really a nice girl at heart.

My brother's best friend, Julian Star. He's much nicer than Tori. Don't tell anyone, but I think he's really cute. I get so nervous whenever I'm around him. I'm sure he thinks I'm just a silly little kid. Madison is the only other person in the world I've ever told about my secret crush - and Kero. So keep it hush-hush, OK?

Julian can be a little shy around big groups of people. But not with me and Tori. He brings me candy and rides to school with us every morning. I think Julian slows down so I don't fall too far behind. Julian even tells me to stand up to Tori. Julian's stomach is almost as much of a bottomless pit as Kero's.

My other friends Nikki, Rita and Chelsea are really cool too. We're all on the cheerleading squad together. Except for Madison of course, somebody has to take the pictures. The squad also does a lot of baton twirling. All that practice helps me handle my Sealing Wand.

My math teacher, Ms, McKenzie, is very mysterious. Li thinks we should be on guard around her. Ms. McKenzie is a great ice-skater, and is also a willing and patient teacher. I've developed a pretty good skating technique myself. I love her because she's so kind, both as a teacher and a person. Recently, though, somebody that looks like her keeps appearing in my dreams (Kero calls them prophecies) or at least somebody like Ms. McKenzie. What could it mean? Also one time Madison, Meilin, me and Li were captured by the maze card and everything we tried failed. Then Ms. McKenzie showed up and somehow freed us with this funny looking bell.

After I captured the card though it went to Ms. McKenzie. I couldn't think of what to tell her, thankfully she didn't ask about it . Li thinks it proves his point about having to be on guard. I don't know though. I still think she's pretty cool after all when Tori showed up she covered for us.

Hey don't forget about me it's my turn, I'm Kero-short for Keroberous. I am the guardian beast of the seal. I have been protecting the Clow Cards for thousands of years. I take a short nap and the next thing you know you're rudely awakened only to find out that all the cards have escaped. Now it's up to me to teach Sakura all about the Clow Cards and how to use her magic. I am not a stuffed animal like Li and other people seem to think. I want to get back to my old self, a fierce warrior lion seen below. I lost most of my magic when the cards escaped.

What Kero fails to mention is that his nap was thirty years long. Kero is pretty docile for a Guardian Beast. Kero took one of my messy drawers and set up a space of his own. His favorite video game is Zylon Warriors. He says playing games helps keep up his fighting skills.

He also likes the same video games that the rest of my family like and he's wild about sweets. Talk about grabbing a bite he wolfs down major snacks in an instant - his, mine, whatever's out there. Even a special present from Julian went right down Kero's gullet, without me even getting a taste. I had a problem with that, considering that the gift was for me. Plus, Kero seems to think he's some kind of star. Whenever Madison is shooting one of her videos, he's always there trying to play up to the camera.

That's my world . I didn't choose to be a Cardcaptor. It chose me. But I'm going to make sure we capture every one of those cards! I've got powers I never dreamed I had. And close friends to help me out-like you. All in all, I'm the luckiest girl in the world.
