Card Captors is an exciting tale of Sakura Avalon and her quest to catch all of the Clow Cards. Sakura is an energetic 4th grader that has many friends and a big mean older brother. Sakura lives a pretty normal life, until it is changed when she stumbles upon the Clow Cards, 52 individual cards that possess wonderful powers. She opened a book in her father's library that released all of the Cards into the world, and now Sakura, along with help from her friends Madison Taylor, Kero and Li Showron have to find all of them before they wreak havoc upon the earth.

Card Captors is a new thrilling anime series in the U.S. Formally called Card Captor Sakura in Japan, this new anime series is about a girl named Sakura Avalon who is a 4th grader whose life changes completely when she stumbles upon a book of Clow Cards. She opens the book and releases all the Cards that have amazing powers, into the world. Now her adventures start along with her friends, as they try and capture all the Cards before the Cards destroy the world.

Cardcaptor Sakura is the story of a "magical girl". It is the story of Sakura Avalon, the ten-year-old of a widowed archaeologist. In her father's study in the basement one day, she opened an ancient book, called the Clow Book. Inside were the Clow Cards, which were magical cards that controlled the elements, created by a magician named Clow Reed. They were sealed up inside the book, because if they were free they would bring chaos and disaster on the world. Sakura accidentally released all the cards when she activated the Windy Card, creating a great gust of wind blowing all the Clow Cards away. Once the cards were released, she was confronted by the guardian of the cards, Keroberous, who was supposed to be guarding the cards, but had taken a nap for about 30 years or so. He makes Sakura a Cardcaptor and together they must get all the cards back before they wreck havoc on the world. Thus marking the beginning of Cardcaptor Sakura.

It all began with a book, one day, Sakura returned home from school to find herself alone. Her father and brother were late coming home. She heard a strange noise from her father's basement library, and, fearing burglars, she arms herself with a baton and hesitantly goes downstairs. As she passes the bookshelves, a book entitled The Clow begins to glow with a mysterious light.

Sakura reaches for the book and removes it from the bookshelf. The book is sealed by a latch, the latch unlocks itself at her touch.

The opened book is filled with Tarot-like cards. Sakura looks at the first one and says the name written on the card: "The Windy." She walks away and say "Windy" The card then begins to glow and the room is filled with a violent wind. The cards in the book fly in the whirlwind through the walls and ceiling and leave the house, leaving Sakura with only the one card in her hand.

Suddenly, a small bear-like creature with wings appears and says, "Oh, thank you for releasing me from that book little girl!" Sakura thinks that it's a talking stuffed animal, but he introduced himself as Keroberous, the guardian of the Clow Cards, powerful magical cards created a long time ago by a great magician, Clow Reed. Keroberous is only his small form because with out the cards he doesn't have enough power.

When Kero notices that all of the Clow Cards are gone, Sakura tells him what happened. The upset creature then declares that since she is the one who lost them, she must recover them. Otherwise, "something terrible will happen." He gives her a magical key, which can transform into a wand, which has the power to capture the Clow Cards. Sakura then becomes a Cardcaptor.

The Clow Cards, do things on their own, and typically make trouble. The cards have intelligence and a personality. Some cards are friendly and others are mischievous. Some of the more powerful cards are dangerous. A few cards are so intelligent that they can talk and reason.

When Sakura returns the cards to their true form, they become compliant and select their owner. For the most part the owner is the one who did the most to defeat them. Both Sakura and Li use the power of the cards to defeat and capture other cards.
