    Joe grew up in a very multi-lingual part of Toronto: both of his parents are French-Canadian, yet he speaks very good English.  He had always been more of a loner and an outsider, due to the fact that he was extremely smart.  When St. Aloysius, the private college that "sponsors" Oakdale Academy, offered him an academic scholarship, he jumped on the opprotunity to go there.  When he got to Oakdale, he joined St. Aloysius' hockey program as a walk-on. Because team rules specify some sort of community service, he volunteered to tutor for Oakdale Academy's science department.

    As mentioned before, Joe is extremely book smart, like Ami.  However, he is a little more extroverted than she was before she met Usagi.  Also, he is less concerned with his studies as Ami is, due to the fact that he knows he's smart.  (He's got a bit of an ego)  He does spend some time studying, but he doesn't almost make it his hobby.  He also has a slight thing for Misae.

    Like Sailormercury, he is considered the brains of the team, and is rather good at planning defesive strategies.  However, while Sailormercury's attacks are mostly defensive, MercuryKnight's attacks are both defensive and offensive.

HENSHIN PHRASE AND ITEMS:

• Mercury Ring: Joe's henshin item.  It is disguised as his high school ring.  When he transforms, he throws his right hand in the air and yells out,

 
• Mercury Power, Transform!:  Joe throws his right hand in the air and says the phrase.  A light blue light eminates from the ring, creating a block of ice around him.  When the block of ice breaks, there is Mercuryknight standing.

 
• Ice Sword: the sword that Mercuryknight carries.  It's a Viking sword, about thirty four inches total in lenght, with the blade being twenty seven inches in length.  The hilt and design of the sword is rather plain: it has a brass hilt with no decoration on it.  However, the blade itself is made of a ice blue crystal.

ATTACKS:

• Mercurian Ice Blast!: this is the attack that us Sailormoon fans know as "Shabon Spray Freezing" or "Ice Bubble Blast".  An ice blue ball forms in front of MercuryKnight.  He then sends it at the enemy, creating a blinding fog.
• Mercury Ice Halation: This is his attack using the Ice Sword.  He says this and swings his sword above his head and then points at the enemy.  The enemy is then pelted with hale stones going at almost a gale wind force speed.
