drawstring/tarot bag

Kat's Reversible-Shell
Drawstring Bag

Note: This pattern can be made in any size you like. Mine just
happens to be made as a bag to hold a deck of my tarot cards.

Materials:
2-3 oz. worsted weight yarn
Size G crochet hook

To make:
Ch 40 (or any multiple of 6 plus 4)
Row 1: Make 3 dc in 4th ch from hook;
(skip next 2 ch, make 7 dc in next ch)
across to last 3 ch; skip 2 ch, make 3 dc in last ch;
ch 1, turn.
Row 2: Sc in top of last dc; *ch 2, holding last loop of
each st on hook, dc in each dc, yo &
pull yarn through all loops on hook (reversed shell made); ch 2,
sc in next dc; repeat from * across to last shell; reverse shell as before,
ch 2, sc in last dc; ch 3, turn.
Row 3: Make 3 dc in last sc made; (skip next 3 dc, sc in next dc,
skip next 3 dc, 7 dc in next sc) across;
make 3 dc in last sc as in row 1.
Row 4 & all even-numbered rows: Repeat row 2.
Row 5 & all odd numbered rows: Repeat row 3.
(For the tarot bag pictured, follow pattern for 17 rows)

Finishing:
At the end of the last row, DO NOT TURN.
Fold piece so that wrong sides are together an sc
evenly around edge.

Drawstring:
Using the bag as a guide, make a chain of desired length.
Using your crochet hook (needles might split the yarn) &
starting at the base of row 15, on the seam-side of piece
from the outside, weave chain through the bases of the
upright shells. Tie ends together.

Designer's Note:This pattern can be modified to do a lot
of other things too. If you do modify it in some way, email me the
changes & a picture of it. I will be adding a page for these
as soon as I get enough to put up.
