Materials:
2 - 2 oz. balls worsted weight cotton (1-MC, 1-CC)
Aluminum crochet hooks, US sizes I and J
Special Stitches:
FPsc = front-post single crochet; insert hook from front to back to front of stitch
below, complete sc.
FPdc = front-post double crochet; YO, insert hook from front to back to front of stitch
below, complete dc.
For Potholder:
With one strand of each color held together and larger hook, ch 4, sl st in first ch to
form a ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 3 (counts as a dc now and throughout), 9 dc in ring. Sl st to top of ch 3 to
join.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in same st; ch 1 (sc in next dc, ch 1) around. Join.
Rnd 3: Sl st in first ch 1 sp, ch 3, dc in same sp, work FPdc around next sc, (2 dc in
next ch 1 sp, FPdc around next sc) around. Join.
Rnd 4: Ch 1, sc in same st, ch 2, sc in next dc, work FPsc around FPdc, (sc in next dc,
ch 2, sc in next sc, FPsc around FPdc) around. Join.
Rnd 5: Sl st in first ch 2 sp, ch 3, 2dc in same sp, FPdc around FPsc, (3 dc in next sp,
FPdc around FPsc) around. Join.
Rnd 6: Ch 1, sc in same st, ch 2, (sk next dc, sc in next dc, FPsc around FPdc, sc in
next dc, ch 2) around. Join.
Rnd 7: Sl st in ch 2 sp, ch 3, 4 dc in same sp, FPdc around FPsc, (5 dc in next ch 2 sp,
FPdc around FPsc) around. Join. Ch 10 for hanger loop. Finish off and weave in ends.
For Coasters: Make 2 of each color
With smaller hook and only one strand of yarn, work as for potholder through rnd 5.
Finish off and weave in ends.
