RUSH have been added to the Molson Canadian Rocks for Toronto with THE ROLLING STONES event at Downsview Park, Wednesday July 30th.
Here is what the band had to say about their involvement in the event:
"Even though we have not played together for 8 months, we will put a show together and join the outpouring of support for the city that we love and live in." Geddy Lee
"When we were first asked to play Molson Canadian Rocks For Toronto, it seemed impossible to say yes. We had been off the road for 8 months, our gear was in the warehouse, most of our crew was out on other tours, and even we were all over the place Geddy with his family in France, Alex working in the studio mixing our Rio de Janeiro show, and me on my motorcycle in the California mountains. However, when we thought about everything Toronto meant to our lives, to our work and play, our homes and families and
friends, it seemed impossible to say no!" Neil Peart
Tickets $21.50 (inc. GST) plus applicable service charges

30/06/2001 - Just an interesting tit-bit I found.
The Masked Rider is a book written by Neil Peart that tells of his cycling trek through West Africa. Journey along with the author as he bikes across a country filled with amazement and danger. It is a true tale of a modern adventure. To order a copy of The Masked Rider, send a check or money order for $25 U.S. or Canadian funds (includes taxes and shipping) to:
Pottersfield Press
RR 2, Porters Lake
Nova Scotia, BOJ 2SO CANADA
A Work In Progress is a 2-part video showing Neil at what he does best, Drumming! Neil performs and guides you through each song on Test For Echo and talks extensively on his style of drumming as well as life in general. He discusses his new approach to drumming and his new drum set-up. It is a very informative and thought provoking show to watch. Compared to other drum videos, I rank this among one of the best.
All Burning for Buddy videos are produced by Neil Peart as a tribute to the late drummer great, Buddy Rich. Both videos contain various drummers, including Peart, performing on the drums along with big band artists. They are both enjoyable and it is interesting to watch these drummers perform on the stage in front of a big band.
You can find these videos at video and music stores in both Canada and the U.S.A

30/01/2001 - Rush back in the studio !!!!
For the first time since the summer of 1997, the members of Rush are back together making music. Singer-bassist Geddy Lee confirmed to JAM! Music Friday that he, guitarist Alex Lifeson and drummer Neil Peart have ended a lengthy hiatus and gathered in a Toronto-area studio to begin work on a new record.
"We are all back together now, and we are just starting that process of writing," Lee told JAM! Music on Friday in an exclusive interview.
"It is too early to say anything concrete has gone down. We are just getting to know each other again and getting comfortable with the prospect of hanging out together for the next couple of months."
On Wednesday, the threesome met up at the studio, but most of the time since then has been spent setting up their gear and working out technical bugs. A cold hit guitarist Alex Lifeson, which further put a crimp in the momentum, as well as the fact that the studio has been a beehive of activity.

04/10/2000 - Neil Peart was married in a small private ceremony in early September. The wedding took place in Southern California. All fans wish Neil and his new bride all the best!
Lifeson also revealed he has been working in his home studio with his 22-year-old son Adrian,
With an eye to launching his recording career. "(The studio) is in constant use between Adrian and I. I have to book time in advance just to mess around with it," Lifeson told Mackietone News. "Adrian writes a lot of Electronica, I would almost call it transient ... not really dance music, it's a little tougher sounding than that. We're actually in the process of putting some mixes together so we can seek a deal for him."

FIRST-EVER SOLO ALBUM FROM RUSH'S VOCALIST/BASSIST
Anthem/Atlantic Records has announced the upcoming release of the debut solo album from Geddy Lee, the voice and bassist of the legendary power trio, Rush. The highly anticipated collection - dubbed "MY FAVORITE HEADACHE" - is due in stores on November 14th. Following more than a quarter-century of success with Rush - including 22 albums, all certified RIAA gold-or-better, with cumulative worldwide sales of over 35 million - "MY FAVORITE HEADACHE" finds Lee joined in the studio by guitarist/multi-instrumentalist Ben Mink and drummer Matt Cameron (Pearl Jam, Soundgarden). The album's 11 diverse new Lee compositions were co-written with Mink (best known for his collaborations with k.d. Lang). This landmark recording sees Lee taking on a number of instruments - along with his bass and vocal duties - including piano, guitar, percussion, and various programming elements. Recorded in Seattle, Vancouver, and Toronto, the album was produced by Lee, Mink, and renowned studio whiz David Leonard (Santana, Barenaked Ladies, Prince), and also features drummer Jeremy Taggart (Our Lady Peace) on one track

19/10/2000 - Just recently a ripple of comment has swept through rush fans concerning the change in rush's long-standing non-commercial stance. It appears that the song "Tom Sawyer" can be heard on a Nissan car commercial.
I am waiting to hear some official word for the members of the band or their label.
"Though his mind is not for rent, to any God or Government..."

17/09/2000 - I hear that a Geddy Lee solo effort is in the making, can anyone share light on what its called / release date / music style, or who is playing on it ?
