(Note.... The Rush album ratings are comparing one rush album against another - not other artists...........
If I were comparing against other artists all albums would rate a 9 or 10.....)RUSH. Rated. 9 (9/10)
Wow what a "debut" album now a rush classic - full of wonderful power cords to warm the ears. Often compared with Led Zep or Cream, but with tracks like "Finding my way" "Working man" and "In the Mood" it out shines them easily.
A must have album for any heavy metal fan. Rating 9/10FLY BY NIGHT. Rated. 7 (7/10)
The second rush album - when they were still considered a true power trio – opens with the classic track “Anthem”. The two acoustic numbers “Making Memories” and “Rivendell” were a departure for rush at the time and are wonderful tracks that are often over looked, when looking back on the early rush catalogue.
Over all a fun album to have as you can hear the rush sound slowly progressing. Rating 7/10CARESS OF STEEL. Rated 5 (5/10)
Mmmmmm... an album that I have never really got into, a sort of in between album, I enjoy "Bastille day" and "Lakeside park" - the rest of the tracks are interesting !!!! to say the least.
An album for the die-hard fan only. Rating 5/102112. Rated 10 (10/10)
OK we are cooking now - the break thru rush album 2112, with the classic title track. A mixture of power cords and quieter acoustic sections...magic.
Side two is also full of great tracks "A passage to Bangkok" "Something for nothing" and my favourite "The twilight zone", love the reverse cords in the song.
An excellent album. Rating 10/10ALL THE WORLDS A STAGE. Rated 8 (8/10)
The first live album from rush - a sort of up close and personal - close your eyes and play it loud, it possible to imagine yourself there in the crowd. You can just about reach out and touch them you are that close.
A good collection of songs from their first four albums - a near definitive album at the time. Rating 8/10A FAREWELL TO KINGS. Rated 10 (10/10)
The near perfect album, love every track - no weaknesses at all. I know it note for note as I have played it so often. "Xanadu" "Closer to the Heart" and "Cygnus X-1, Book 1- The voyage"
If you don't have this album - race out and get it now !!! Rating 10/10HEMISPHERES. Rated 9 (9/10)
My "First" ever rush album. I remember thinking how strange their music was at the time. (Wouldn't mind a $1 for every time I have listened to it since !!!)
Rush at their best with the classic "Cygnus X-1 Book II" and "La Villa Strangiato"
The golden period of Rush. Rating 9/10PERMANENT WAVES. Rated 9 (9/10)
A great rush album with tracks like "The Spirit of Radio" "Freewill" "Jacob's ladder" and "Natural science" an often over looked album, but one a lover of Rush music should seek out and play often. Rating 9/10MOVING PICTURES. Rated 10 (10/10)
The all time top Rush album, "A definitive studio offering" - loved by the fans !!!
You don't own it ??? - get it !!
The best music money can buy - run don't walk........... Rating 10/10EXIT...STAGE LEFT.Rated. 8 (8/10)
Below is my review of the "Pre-remastered" CD - it was flat and sterile - but now that I have a remastered copy the album rocks, it is so clear and "alive" if you have the "old master" dump it and get the remastered version it was one of the best $19's I have ever spent. It still has the same standout tracks - plus the original "A passage to Bangkok" is included on the cd. Rated 8/10
--(When I want to listen to a live rush album this would be my last choice of the 4 released. Because….
The album has breaks between the songs ruining the illusion of a live continuous concert, the album sounds flat and sterile in places. But having said all these negative things first - there are many fine points to the album…….
My all time favourites such as “Red Barchetta” “Jacob’s Ladder” “Xanadu” “Tom Sawyer” and “La Villa Strangiato” you end up with an album that is a hell of a lot of fun to listen to.
But over all an album I would find hard to recommend to any one but a hardened Rush fan, the other live albums are better then this offering. Rated 6/10.)--SIGNALS. Rated 8/10 (8/10)
A shift in gear from Rush leaving some fans confused with more synth based music and toned down guitar.
Out standing tracks are "Subdivisions" and "Digital Man"
Well worth a listen. Rated 8/10GRACE UNDER PRESSURE. Rated 7/10 (7/10)
Nice album cover, a couple of good tracks, but nothing out standing.
Listen to "Distant Early Warning" "The Body Electric" and "Kid Gloves" An album for the hardened Rush fan. Rated 7/10POWER WINDOWS. Rated 8/10 (8/10)
Rush back on track with some good songs "The Big Money" "Manhattan Project" and "Marathon".
A smooth sounding album. Rated 8/10HOLD YOUR FIRE. Rated 8/10 (8/10)
A good album with a couple of out standing tracks "Force Ten" and "Time Stand Still".
Rush was getting better by the album - One of the best albums during this period. Rated 8/10A SHOW OF HANDS. Rated 9/10 (9/10)
Their third live album- miles better than "Exit... Stage left" it has a nice clean sound - a best of collected from their last few albums.
Excellent music to sooth the savage beast..... Rated 9/10PRESTO. Rated 8/10 (8/10)
A good album with nothing really out standing except "Show Don't Tell"
A good tight album well worth getting. Rated 8/10CHRONICLES. Rated 10/10 (10/10)
"A one stop shop" One of Rush's best albums - If you want to own only one Rush album this is IT !!!
A collection of their out standing tracks from their back catalogue.
The only thing missing are the long "Album side" masterpieces, but you can't have everything on only two cd's.
No contest. Rated 10/10ROLL THE BONES. Rated 6/10 (6/10)
An album I have never really got into no matter how often I listen to it.
The Album is ok but nothing special - Tracks to check out "Dreamline" and "Face Up" Rated 6/10COUNTERPARTS. Rated 9.5/10 (19/20)
My favourite album by RUSH, up to this point, is Counterparts. The complexity of the musical parts on this album is far and above any RUSH, or for that matter, any other band has ever played. The songs were well mixed on the album creating a great flow from track one, Animate, to #11, Everyday Glory.
As a drummer myself, I can't help but to key on Neil and his wonderful gift. The man is ........ I'm sorry, there is no word that justifies how good of a musician/drummer he is. I listen to the album and count how many times I say, "cool part." So far, 197. The Speed of Love has a simple but creative drum break that even the lamest air-drummer will get.
This album does not reek of hard rock crap. It's music that anyone with a good taste in music could enjoy and appreciate.
The lyrics are also very powerful. Nobody's Hero and Everyday Glory speak volumes about some very hard issues in today's world.
I would recommend this album to anyone with a good taste and open mind to music. If you're wondering what RUSH is like, this album should be the one you get. To me, a close 2nd is Moving Pictures.
I've been to 10 RUSH concerts since Moving Pictures. Trust me. Rated 10/10 Email

Outstanding is a word that rolls off the tongue, when talking about this album. The lyrics to "Nobody's Hero" speak to me personally - concerning tolerance and understanding.
I love this album, you will to..... Rated 9/10TEST FOR ECHO. Rated 8/10 (8/10)
A fine rush album, powerful album with finely crafted songs - out standing are "Test for echo" "Half the world" and "Virtuality"
Rated 8/10RETROSPECTIVE I ( 1974-1980 ) Rated 8/10 (8/10)
A fine collection of songs - but for my money get "Chronicles" if you must buy a best of.
A bonus track here is "Xanadu" but also missing is "Working man"
It is full of great Rush music from their early years..
Nothing wrong with the album - just not required. Rated 8/10RETROSPECTIVE II ( 1981-1987 ) Rated 9/10 (9/10)
A good collection of songs but once again "Chronicles" is a better album.
It is full of great Rush music from the latter years..
Nothing wrong with the album - just not required. Rated 9/10DIFFERENT STAGES. Rated 10/10 (10/10)
A triple live album nearly three and a half hours long - covering all the different stages rush has gone through.
Crystal clear production, The perfect album for any rush fan.
There are so many great songs here - just buy the album and enjoy........
What more can one say.........musical heaven. Rated 10/10
