Goodbye England's Rose During the week of February 1, 1998, my mother and brother took a trip abroad to Paris, France. She always loved Princess Di and somehow I think her choice of vacation was inspired by the desire to pay her respects in person. When she came home, I watched the video tape my brother shot. He took pictures of the tunnel and all the memorials left for Princess Di. I couldn't help but to wonder if every car and every person who passed through that tunnel thought about the Princess. I watched as he panned around the scene and finally rested on my mother. She had tears in her eyes as she took out a large red marker and left a message for England's Rose. She said goodbye to one of the only women she had ever respected in her life. To my surprise, she added my name and my daughter's to her own. Signing it...from USA. It was then that my brother panned along all the other markers. Some from France, England, Austria, Japan, America, Germany, and Canada. This woman was loved everywhere people roamed. The world has lost a diamond. Please click the link to see some of the pictures of the Flamme de la Liberte in Paris with some of the memorials. These pictures were taken by my mother so please, don't take them.
