Q: QSO thru quasar
New words are still being added so please don't tell me I've missed stuff out! I'm a student, I do have work to do beyond this!
The first definition of each term is the accepted, or most acceptable, explanation.
This is followed by the interpretation according to the relatively new and exciting Goblin Theory that purports to explain the entire universe neatly and simply.
- QSO
- Abbreviation: quasi-stellar object.
Name given to a number of objects having apparently star-like properties and large red-shifts.
Some of these objects, quasars, emit large amounts of radio waves.
- quantum gravity
- (a) A theory in development which would unify general relativity and quantum theory.
One set of equations would then be able to describe conditions in the Universe 10 to the -43 seconds after its formation.
(b) A horrendously complicated theory which would probably result in equations too impossible to solve.
- quasar
- Abbreviation of quasi-stellar radio source, a quasar is an immensely luminous object existing far out towards the edge of the universe.
They are thought to be active galactic nuclei as optical counterparts for a small number of quasars have been identified as galaxies.
