J: jansky thru Jupiter

New words are still being added so please don't tell me I've missed stuff out! I'm a student, I do have work to do beyond this!
The first definition of each term is the accepted, or most acceptable, explanation. This is followed by the interpretation according to the relatively new and exciting Goblin Theory that purports to explain the entire universe neatly and simply.

jansky
(a) A unit of flux density. 1 Jy = 10 to the power -26 watts per square metre per hertz.
(b) Another unnecessary unit introduced by radio astronomers to confuse outsiders.
Jansky, Karl
Discovered radio emission from the Milky Way and for his troubles had a unit named after him.
Janus
(a) One of Saturn's many small satellites.
(b) Not to be confused with Janice, lab technician extraordinaire. BUCKET CHEMISTRY ROCKS!
Jeans criterion
(a) Stuff to do with contraction under gravity of clouds of gas and dust. I can't be more detailed as I haven't studied this.
(b) A set of step-by-step instructions for washing assorted stains (e.g. grass, chocolate) out of denim.
jet
A narrow beam of matter or radiation.
Jodrell Bank
(a) The Cheshire location of the University of Manchester's Nuffield Radio Astronomy Laboratories. It houses the 76 m Lovell Mk II telescope, a tea room and a little chair you sit in and spin round. At least the last time I went.
(b) The place good Astrophysics students go when they die.
jovian planets
(a) The gas giants out past the asteroid belt, namely Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune, but not Pluto as it's a big lump of rock. But it IS a planet.
(b) A spelling mistake on behalf of us poor Terrans, this should read "jovial", and means the Jolly Gas Giants featured on tins of goblin creamed corn.
Jupiter
The fifth planet from the Sun and the largest planet in the solar system. Jupiter is a gas giant, being about 90 % hydrogen and 10 % helium with trace gases. More info will be posted here later...
