first ECW batch(like 702, left) had the staircase immediately behind
the cab, like the preceding Atlanteans. The following batches (like
780, right), and the Alexander-bodied Olympians which followed them,
had the staircase positioned more centrally, opposite the exit.
This layout also raised capacity from 81 to 83 seats.
