LAST  LEYLANDS

Back end of a bus

766, 767, 761 at Marine, July 2002

The ECW-bodied Olympians had a variety of grilles on and above the engine compartment. All up to 769 had an extra horizontal panel strap just below the rear window, which was absent from 770 upwards, the difference easily seen in the photos of 788 and 757. All Olympians remaining (from summer 2002) from the last two batches had the mesh grille on the nearside above the engine compartment, and a painted-over plate with a small grille on the offside in this position. Earlier batches (668-736) also had grilles of various types on the rear aspect, on either side of the rear window. No photos of those are available yet. Kowloon Motor Bus took deliveries of some early ECW Olympians with the same 10.2-metre bodywork and early grilles, but different seating.
