Jeremy Burgess speaks up...

"So the year with Valentino is great fun, as it was with Mick (Doohan) in 1989. It's a very good year..."

~Burgess, on his season with Valentino (2000)

"I think he played a part in talking to Valentino and getting him on a Honda, and he feels very much part of the whole thing..."

~Burgess, on Mick Doohan as part of the team

"I never really tend to offer advice. The only advice I ever offer is that it's important we finish races, so that we have something to build on for the following year..."

" My thing with all riders in their first year is that we have to look at things to see what they're capable of - but importantly to finish races and not get hurt, because if you miss races you lose experience...Valentino was well aware of that, having had four years in Grand Prix in 125 and 250..."

~Burgess, on his advice to riders

"Valentino may have to pay more next year, because he might be moving up to a higher power-to-weight ratio model..."

~Burgess, on the ‘JB’ logo (sticker - pronounces Jeremy Burgess Associates - Allgate) on Rossi's NSR500 which expires on Noverber 1st.

"The Honda 500 seems to be a lot less difficult in terms of engine. But of course you're not looking for one or two horsepower - which you trying to find on a 250 or a 125 all the time..."

~Burgess, on the Honda 500cc machine

"We only did four tests with Valentino prior to the start of the season (2000). One in December (1999), then one in January (2000), one in February (2000) and one two weeks before the first race (2000)..."

~Burgess, on the bike testing with Rossi prior to Season 2000

"I had a few job irons in the fire by Australian GP, and after that a few more - including the job that I'm going now...There were a couple of options there, that I was considering, but I had time to consider them too...it wasn't as though I had to make a decision at any stage in the immediate future..."

~Burgess, on his job

"The first year with any rider is probably, in a lot of ways, the best - because there's no expectation to win from anybody above us on the ladder..."

~Burgess, on having the best racing job in the world

"I think he's handling it pretty well, actually, Mick is good to have around, he's very relaxed now...When he's got half an hour to spare at any time, he files into our garage, because everybody in the garage has worked with him..."

~Burgess, on Mick Doohan being "a former rider"

"The Nastro Azzuro Honda team is based in Brussels, next to, but not attached to the works Repsol Honda team..."

"We have a separate workshop in the same building as Repsol team, but we have no internal access to their areas. We have to go through external doors. But I like that, I like the fact that the team has independent sponsorship and independent people. We have coordination and management from the Italians - which is good, they seem to be good people."
