The piled up twigs in the background is a boma; an enclosure
to keep the cattle and goats in and, hopefully, the lions out.
You can see it's very dry here. The village gets water from the
stream I mentioned before. It's heavily laced with soda,
which will make you sick if you drink it, but the Maasai are used to it.
