"Smart travellers enjoy the journey.    Idiots can't wait to get there."
A metaphor for life perhaps, as well as travel.
My philosophy for travel is to enjoy the journey, rather than focus on the destination.
I travelled with a group once through the Rift Valley in Tanzania, one of the geographical wonders of the planet.
During this journey one of my fellow travellers spent most of the time reading Time magazine. Idiot!
Another time, while riding a bus in the Mekong Delta in Viet Nam, most passengers read, slept or talked.
I spent the time with my head stuck out the window taking in the scenery and watching daily life in the delta.
What was just a boring 3 hour bus ride to everyone else was for me an almost magical experience and one
     that I will never forget.
Great travel experiences are there, if you are willing to open your eyes and your mind.
If you expect it to be neatly packaged, you may as well stay at home and watch it on T.V.

I have done a fair bit of travelling in the last few years, and I have a lot of photos.
I got tired of getting out the prints and the slide projector to look at them, so I decided
to scan them all so I could see them whenever I was in front of my computer.
Then it occurred to me to put all these photos on a web site for others to see and enjoy.

Two of my favourite regions are sub-Saharan Africa and Viet Nam.
My photos may not always come up to professional standards, but under the conditions
(limited time, heat, humidity and erratic equipment) there are some pretty good photos here,
even if I do say so myself.

As well as travel photos there are some other things, hence the above title.
My beer coaster collection which, if nothing else, is pretty to look at.
Also some post cards and unusual objects collected on my travels.

All HTML files are carefully handcrafted and then processed in our state of the art computer facility.

  Java and Javascript
There are currently some security issues with Java and Javascript. Mostly with Internet Explorer.
Some of you may have disabled these languages on your browser.
This web site uses both and will not be quite as good with them disabled.
You can enable them for the duration of your visit and disable them when finished.

If you're not sure how to do this, here are some instructions:-

For Java in IE4 and IE5 got to tools/internet options/security/internet/custom level and scroll
down until you see Java and enable Java if disabled and set to medium safety.

For Javascript it's the same, just scroll down a little further until you come to scripting and enable.
To disable these later just go back as per these instructions.

For Netscape got to edit/preferences/advanced and enable Java and Javascript.
Then just go back and disable them when you want to.
