An old diamond mining town called Kolmanskop in Namibia.
The town prospered from around 1908 until sometime after WW1 but became a
ghost town when the diamond yield petered out.
The name comes from a man named Kolman who drove a bullock team
through here looking for diamonds.
The bullocks died and he buried them in sand (what else?) and the
mound became known as Kolman's mound or, in German, Kolman's kop.
The town is near Luderitz.
Below is the old sign in old German.
