back to main menu This is the official flag of Viet Nam, and
for historical accuracy is still on some pages.

back to viet menu This flag is from the former South Viet Nam.
I put it here because of this e-mail I received:

I'm a young Vietnamese living in KY.
I was very impressed after visiting your site.  You've got a very nice site
there with lots of photos and data about Vietnam, my country.  The only thing
I don't like (to be honest with you) is the flag of Vietnamese communists.
The flag that more than 2/3 Vietnamese (out of 78 mil) stand under is the one
that has a yellow background and 3 red stripes, not the one that you displayed
-- which is stained with the innocent-blood of more than 2 millions Vietnamese.

To get more and more hits for your Vietnamese site, I suggest that you
replace that flag with the one I attached.  Have you heard about that Tran
Truong's case in CA?  He displayed the same flag that you have in your site,
and it triggered the anger of millions of Vietnamese around the world who are
eagering for a free, properous Vietnam (which led to a 50-days protest in
Southern CA and other large cities in the US, as well as in Australia and France).

I really appreciate what you are doing.  However, I really think you should
consider that matter.  Thanks for your time and may you have a peaceful life.

I don't want to get too much into politics here, but the South Vietnamese regime
was probably as corrupt as the present Communist one:   take your pick.
However the old striped flag is symbolic of the fight for a free, democratic Viet Nam.
