NUMBER CRUNCHING:
On the
WB's first night with new Fall programming, "What I Like About
You" was perceptibly better in female demos than last year
("The Jamie Kennedy Experiment"), if not in total audience.
The 1.9 continues to be a typical audience figure from the end of last
year on Fridays. "Run of the House" was the night's big
washout, being outscored by a special presentation of "The
Mullets" on UPN. "Steve Harvey's Big Time", while not as
potent a premiere as last year's "Family Affair", did deliver
numbers better than last years' Thursdays, with the prime occupants
being "Affair", "Do Over" and "Sabrina".
But as the numbers show for the first few days, Thursday is the night
that is not performing, and we would hate to think the WB is putting
shows out to pasture there.
Elsewhere, NBC slotted a repeat of Tuesday's
"Whoopi" after it experienced better-than-expected ratings.
The staggered starts for the NBC shows are typical ratings ploys, and
will be repeated countless times in the future.
Next week "The Jamie Kennedy
Experiment" begins its season in its regular time slot, 8:30PM.
Amanda Bynes is a guest, so we'll see how that impacts the
numbers.
