NUMBER CRUNCHING:
Based on
overnight ratings that did not include Fox numbers due to baseball
coverage, the WB said:
"What I Like About You" was #1 in its time
period among all networks* in women 12-34 (2.2/9), teens (2.6/12),
female teens (2.5/11) and male teens (2.7/13). It also ranked #2 persons
12-34 (1.9/8) and men 12-34 (1.5/7) and #3 in adults 18-34 (1.6/6),
women 18-34 (2.1/8) and men 18-34 (1.0/4).
The WB achieved its best Friday of the season in teens (2.4/10),
female teens (2.4/11) and male teens (2.3/10) and equaled its best
marks this season in persons 12-34 (1.8/7), women 12-34 (2.2/9) and
men 12-34 (1.4/5). The network ranked #1 in teens (2.4/10) and female
teens (2.4/11), #2 in women 12-34 (2.2/9) and #3 in persons 12-34
(1.8/7) and women 18-34 (2.1/8).
Based on the overnights, Marc
Berman of Mediaweek has already pencilled in "WILAY" and
"Tucson" for a "probable" full-season pick-up, and
cites "WILAY"'s chief firstrun competition "Firefly"
as "waiting for the cancellation ax to swing" along with
Thursday WB underachievers "Family Affair" and "Do
Over".
But when the actual numbers were released, it was a different story
entirely, as the one-two punch of "Providence" (with its
season debut) and "48 Hours Investigates" sent not only
"What I Like About You" but "Sabrina" reeling back
in the ratings.
