Even if we
calculated Amanda's age in dog years, making the 16-year-old 112, we'd
still be impressed by everything she's accomplished so far.
It all started at age 10, when she did standup comedy in Los Angeles. She
impressed Nickelodeon producers enough to snag a spot on "All
That", a sketch comedy program that's like a teenage "Saturday
Night Live". Three years later, the network made Amanda the host of
her own skit series, "The Amanda Show".
That was all before she could drive. Now Amanda's in a new sitcom,
"What I Like About You" (look for it Fridays at 8PM on the WB)
which was written specifically for her. The show isn't breaking any new
comedy ground, but Amanda's laugh-out-loud funny. She stars a the klutzy
Holly, who moves in with her type-A-personality sister Val (played by
Jennie Garth of "Beverly Hills 90210" fame) and creates messes
wherever she goes. Amanda also co-starred with Frankie Muniz in last
year's "Big Fat Liar" as a teenager who helps her best friend
expose a conniving Hollywood producer. And she just finished filming the
2003 comedy "American Girl" where she plays a New York City
chick who visits her dad in England and brings big city chaos to the
stuffy country.
At this rate Amanda will be packing up her MTV Movie Awards and heading to
the retirement home when she's 25.
AUTOGRAPH? ANYONE? ANYONE? "I had been on
'All That' three or four times when my family and I went to Nickelodeon
Studios in Florida. I expected to be pounded with autograph requests but
nobody cared."
WHAT SHE DRIVES: A Honda. "It's a good learning car."
WHAT SHE WANTS TO DRIVE: "A
2-door BMW in ice blue or silver with a black interior." Not like
she's really thought about it or anything.
