Burbank, CA (September 10, 2002) - The all-girl Canadian pop-rock
group Lillix has signed on to perform the theme song for The WB's new
comedy series WHAT I LIKE ABOUT YOU. Starring Amanda Bynes
("The Amanda Show") and Jennie Garth ("Beverly Hills,
90210"), WHAT I LIKE ABOUT YOU premieres on Friday, September
20, 8:00-8:30 p.m. ET.
The original song, "What I Like About You," was recorded and
released by The Romantics on their debut album in the late 1970s and
remains one of the band's biggest hits. Lillix's remake of The Band's 1978
hit "Who Do You Love" is the music for The WB's current on-air
promotional campaign.
"The WB ratings for women 18-34 has always been a strong
demographic for our network and a group like Lillix fits right in,"
said Jordan Levin, President, Entertainment of The WB. "We knew the
minute we heard their music last spring and signed them for the on-air
campaign that we would be doing something else with this group again
soon."
Lillix includes vocalist-guitarist Tasha Ray Evin (17),
vocalist-keyboardist Lacey Lee Evin (18), and singer-bassist Louise Burns
(16), all from Cranbrook, British Columbia. The band's career took off
when Burns' father sent a demo of the all-girl teen group to an
entertainment lawyer. Madonna's record label company, Maverick, quickly
signed the girls upon their first meeting.
WHAT I LIKE ABOUT YOU also stars Simon Rex and Wesley Jonathan.
Wil Calhoun ("Friends") and Dan Schneider ("The Amanda
Show") serve as executive producers, along with Mike Tollin, Brian
Robbins, and Joe Davola ("Smallville") for Tollin/Robbins
Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television.
