Thousand
Oaks native Amanda Bynes' knack for physical comedy and vocal inflections
make this series the best new comedy of the fall season. Easily.
The very likable 16-year-old Bynes shares Lucille Ball's early energy
and timing.
She recently returned from filming "American Girl" in London
to resume production on "What I Like About You."
In the new sitcom, Bynes ("The Amanda Show") stars as Holly,
who doesn't want to move to Japan with her father (played by Peter Scolari
of "Newhart"). She tries to convince her 28-year-old sister
Valerie (Jennie Garth of "Beverly Hills 90210") to let her move
into her New York City apartment.
The more Holly tries to please future roommate Valerie, the more
trouble she creates for her older sister.
Garth does a good job in the show and performs some physical comedy in
the pilot, but more of that will fall, literally, onto Bynes' shoulders.
Garth is pregnant with a Dec. 7 due date.
"What I Like About You" also stars Simon Rex of "Jack
& Jill" as Jeff, Valerie's free-spirited boyfriend, and Rex is a
good choice for the part.
