THE OVERNIGHTS: "SURVIVOR" VOTES OFF "WILAY"A strong showing by the premiere episode of the seventh CBS "Survivor" epic led CBS to a nighty win, with The WB again suffering declining ratings through the night. "Steve Harvey's Big Time" led with a 3.1, 14% down from last week. The season premiere of "Jamie Kennedy Experiment", featuring Amanda Bynes, posted a 2.8. But a few of those viewers were obviously not Amanda fans as "What I Like About You" dipped to a 2.4, off about 9% from last week, and "Run of the House" had a 2.3, same as last week. Weekly ratings analysis follows on Wednesday.Fox Prez Sez "O.C." May Stay PutPeter Chernin, President of the Fox Television Network, said yesterday in a conference call that their early-starting series "The O.C.", which has been performing admirably on Tuesday nights since its August premiere, may not move to Thursday nights at 9PM after the baseball playoffs conclude and November sweeps start.
"We're actually going through some debates right now," said Chernin. "We'll probably make that decision in the next week or so."
If "The O.C." does stay put, it will be at least some relief for "WILAY" fans, who expect their favorite show to be pummeled in the ratings next week by "Will and Grace" and "CSI". Fox could always put one of its reality projects up against the titans, or worse, "American Idol"...now that would be a battle royal for three of the four main networks, and maybe more headaches for "WILAY".

"WILAY" WINS AOL TV AWARD"What I Like About You" added another honor to its awards chest today, as AOL Time Warner announced that the series was named "Best New Show" in the third annual AOL TV Awards.
"It's such a thrill to be chosen as the Best New Show for the AOL TV Viewer Awards -- especially because it's by the fans that are watching us!" said series star Amanda Bynes. "We have had such a great time working on this show and we really appreciate the members of AOL honoring us."
Other winners include "Everwood"'s Gregory Smith, for Best Fresh Face, Jennifer Aniston from "Friends" as Best TV Fashion, and Jerry Bruckheimer, receiving the Innovator Award. A full list of winners is available on AOL, keyword "TV AWARDS".
We congratulate the cast and crew of "What I Like About You" for this award, and we thank all of you who visit the site and use AOL for voting for WILAY!

NOBODY'S LAMBMarc Berman of "The Programming Insider" in Mediaweek yesterday cited "What I Like About You" as "the WB's sacrificial lamb". As is his custom, whenever a show is struggling on Thursday nights and begins to show decline, he'll trot out one of his shopworn phrases, "The cancellation clock is ticking".
We have news for Mr. Berman. There is no cancellation clock.
And "What I Like About You" ain't nobody's lamb.
As of this moment we are designating all "What I Like About You" viewers and fans of the site and the show the WILAY Street Team. Please watch every week! Tell everyone you know about this program, encourage websites or TV shows that ignore the show to provide more reportage, ("Access Hollywood", tonight fixated on Hilary Duff's Wednesday special, is a good start). And e-mail the WB and let them know you want to see WILAY on the network for some time to come. Even if you're from a foreign country and see the show in the UK, South Africa, France, Brazil, Canada, Sweden, or wherever it's played...If WILAY is cancelled here, it's cancelled EVERYWHERE. You would lose out too.
We need to get the viewership for this series up and quiet Marc Berman down. We need to take care of the "lamb" so that it can grow up to full sheephood. We need to get behind this show like never before, and we can do it together.

NIELSEN FINALS: AT LEAST IT WASN'T LAST The Nielsen finals for September 11th are out, and "What I Like About You" notched a 1.9 for its season premiere, "I Love You...Soon". The number fit in between the 2.3 for "Steve Harvey's Big Time" and the 1.6 for "Run of the House". That's the show that should be a little scared now. Full numbers for the time slot and the WB are available here.
Don't forget to watch Amanda Bynes tomorrow night on "The Jamie Kennedy Experiment" before she hits us with another slice of "WILAY" goodness! The fun starts at 8:30PM, 7:30PM Central!

NICK UK SCHED: A WORK IN PROGRESSNickelodeon has been doing some shuiffling and reshuffling of its "What I Like About You" playlist on almost a daily basis for the past two weeks, and we're doing the best we can to get it to you correctly.
Among the changes in the past two weeks were that the episode "Holly's First Job" was skipped during the first cycle, and it will be shown sometime this weekend in its true production order. Also, the episode scheduled for today, "Loose Lips", has been replaced by "The Fix Up". Thomas from the UK's leading Amanda Bynes site will keep us apprised on any further changes.
Also, effective this week schedule information has been restored for Africa (MNET), since their "Big Brother" program has finished. Also, France, whose France 2 began airing "What I Like About You" on September 6, has been added to the bulging roster of countries now showing this program.

MIKE WINDS UP ON FOX'S CUTTING ROOM FLOOR Bad news for you fans and followers of Michael McMillian...the pilot that he produced for Fox's new series, "Luis", will not see light of day.
The role of Greg, which McMillian created during the late march taping of the Fox pilot, was recast and has gone to Wesley Ramsey, a young actor who had previously appeared on "General Hospital". So as not to befuddle viewers, FOX reshot the pilot from scratch with Ramsey taking over for McMillian. Promos had run previously on the network prominently featuring McMillian as Greg.
The pickup of "Luis", along with the renewal of "What I Like About You", posed a wonderful problem for Mike, and we think he made the right choice. And unless they issue a DVD set of "Luis" incluing the original McMillian pilot, it's the only place we'll be able to see him for some time to come.

THE OVERNIGHTS: "LIKE" BESTS "RUN", HARVEY HAS GOOD PREMIERE Today marks the return of reporting the ratings on WILAY, since we're into the new season and every number counts. The season premiere of "What I Like About You", "I Love You...Soon", marked a 2.7/4, still lower than UPN but improved over the last number of Thursdays.
The ratings for the WB's other shows, both series premieres: "Steve Harvey's Big Time" notched a 3.6/6, besting Fox's "Anything for Love". Joseph Lawrence's "Run of the House" only mustered a 2.4/4, off "WILAY"'s pace by about 12% and not a good sign for the new show in its first week.
As we did last year, we will be tracking the ratings week to week, posting a page with detailed ratings info every week of the season, starting next Wednesday.

JOHN RITTER: 1948-2003This morning the world lost one of television's consummate physical comics, one whose influence was partially felt in the early going of "What I Like About You". John Ritter, the nervy Jack Tripper of "Three's Company" and the beset Paul Hennessy of "8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter", collapsed on that sitcom's stage last night and died several hours later at Providence St. Joseph's hospital. He suffered a dissection of the aorta, according to his publicists.
As Jack Tripper on "Three's Company", he cavorted around the apartment of two sweet and single females, pretending to be swish-gay to throw off his landlord Mr. Roper. He won Emmy, Golden Globe and People's Choice awards for "Company", which later became "Three's a Crowd". During the first few "WILAY" episodes last season, Amanda Bynes fell over couches and off beds with the same kind of trademark flair Ritter used throughout his "Company" tenure. "Rules", last season's standout comedy hit, portrayed him as loving husband and father to three somewhat rebellious kids.
John Ritter leaves behind former wife Nancy Morgan, current wife Amy Yasbeck, and three children, Carly, Tyler, and Jason (star of the CBS series "Joan of Arcadia"). And he also leaves behind his TV family, the Hennessys: Katey Sagal, Amy Davidson, Martin Spanjers, and Kaley Cuoco.

Roses and RazzesRoses...to David Bianculli, TV critic of the New York Daily News, who mentioned that Amanda Bynes was "what I like about 'What I Like About You' ".
Razzes...to -- who else? Tim Goodman, TV critic of the San Francisco Chronicle, who said that the WB was better served by running two hours of Steve Harvey doing standup rather than anything else on Thursday in his hateful pans of "Run of the House" and "Steve Harvey's Big Time". We presume he didn't rescreen "What I Like About You"...he probably thinks it's still "The New Lucy Show".

SEASON TWO STARTS NOWTonight is the beginning of the second season of "What I Like About You". Amanda Bynes and Jennie Garth head up a newly-expanded cast who are ready to explore more life, love and workplace conflicts in New York City.
"I Love You...Soon", the second season bow, airs tonight at 9PM, 8PM Central, and will reair on Sunday at 6PM, 5PM Central on the WB. Tonight's episode begins to put in motion changes for Valerie Tyler's professional life, as she meets her new boss at Harper and Diggs, Peter (Stephen Dunham). Next week, in "Boys Club", the locker room atmosphere created by Peter and his staff causes Val and Lauren (Leslie Grossman, now a regular) to make some hard choices. While all this is going on, there is a romantic attraction between Peter and Val.
And love compications come for Amanda Bynes as Holly Tyler as well. A cute older boy, bike messenger Vince (Nick Zano), becomes her acquaintance tonight and a rival for Henry Gibson (Mike McMillian, officially becoming a regular tonight). The third episode of the season will introduce a girlfriend for Holly, the pretty Tina (Allison Munn). Wesley Jonathan returns for a second season as Tyler family confidante Gary Thorpe, but Simon Rex, Val's old beau Jeff, is gone.
We would appreciate it if you all watched and encouraged others to watch as well. This season, more than last, the viewers count! There's more risk and a higher chance of bad things happening to the show if the viewers are playing hookey. So please, watch and enjoy the show!
We want to spotlight in this space the encouraging words of zap2it.com and Yahoo TV picks writer Courtney Potter, who mentioned that Amanda had been eclpised, popularity-wise, by fellow teen bombshell Hilary Duff. Courtney wrote, "Get back on the horse, Amanda. You can do it." Thanks, Courtney!
Brian, Mike "Inc." Support for "Girls" Brian Robbins, "What I Like About You" executive producer and founding partner of Tollin/Robbins Broductions, appeared yesterday at a kickoff party for Girls Inc. (formerly the Girls Clubs of America) and their Celebration Luncheon. Also at the fete was Angela Shapiro, President of ABC Family, and Robbins' partner Mike Tollin.
