He developed a 'cult' following in his early years at the station due to his dry humour, unusual jingles and comedy sketches, which were usually voiced by Andrew McGibben. Characters such as Eric the Gardener, Raymond Sinclair and later, Major Holdups became household names - well er in households of people who listened to the show. Features such as Mr Whippy's Organ were loved by his fans. He never really came to national prominance, save for a year when he co-hosted the Breakfast Show with Zoe Ball.
