Huntress' Foes

Soon after joining the Justice Society, the Huntress faces her toughest adversary, the Original Huntress!!!   This lady has been a master criminal for decades, having set traps for the likes of Wildcat and Wonder Woman!  Not only a master of all types of traps, she is also a master strategist and an expert trainer of wild game animals.  And boy, was she mad that this "rookie" stole her name!   As an agent of the Thorn and working with her criminal husband, the Sportsmaster, the outlaw Huntress sets traps throughout the Justice Society's Gotham City headquarters for her namesake. In the end, though, Helena outsmarts her and wins the right to keep the name.

The Huntress follows her colleague and  soon-to-be boyfriend,  District Attorney Harry Sims to Gotham City's island prison, Gull's Island?  There, the Huntress ends up in a life or death situation.  You see, the beastly criminal known as Lionmane and his fellow prisoners decide to start a prison riot at the same time.  So now,  Huntress has to rescue Harry, restore order to the facility, and defeat the unbelievably strong and highly tactical-minded Lionmane.  In the end, she proves she's Catwoman's daughter, by taming the menacing lion himself!

His stranglehold over Gotham City threatened by the Huntress, mob boss Stenville hires an assassin named Karnage to deal with her.  And deal with her he does, showing an impressive array of weaponry to complement his own physical stature.  Twice he sneaks up on the Huntress, once in an alley using his mini-missiles and electrified bullwhip, and later as he breaks into the Helena's law  office, looking for Arthur Cranston who is Stenville's political adversary.  Not finding him he retreats.  Later, the Huntress pays another visit to Stenville's home,  warning him to back off.  Finally, she is able to surprise Karnage for once, quickly defeating him.

Having had Karnage test high-tech weaponry on the Huntress and fail to eliminate her,  crime boss Stenville takes matters into his own hands as he dons medieval armor and becomes the Crimelord!  Though using seemingly ancient weapons, these were actually state of the art weapons...such as a flaming ball and chain!  The Crimelord, having deduced the Huntress' secret identity, attacks Helena Wayne twice… summarily defeating her both times, just as she humiliated him twice by breaking into his mansion.  For their third meeting, he lures her to his castle headquarters, and they proceed to have an epic battle.  Then, his armor becomes his downfall (quite literally) when its weight pulls him over the edge of his castle, plummeting him to his death.
