Some
people think it started the first day we met in the briefing
room.
Or when we were infected, and I kissed him in the locker room.
Some people
think it was when we watched each other play with Cassie.
Or when
we were almost dead in Antarctica.
There
are others who are sure it was when he was gone for three
months,
and I wouldn't stop working to get him home. Or when I saw
him
kiss the other Samantha. A skeptical few think we didn't even
know
about our feelings until I was trapped behind the force field or
until
we were Jonah and Thera. The remaining ones didn't believe it
until
they heard that he agreed to the blending because I had asked.
Daniel
knew it when he saw the "other" us just months after we had met.
Janet
knew it when he was stuck on Edora. Teal'c knew it when he
heard
our confessions, and probably long before that. Before he
'killed'
me, the General practically admitted that he knew it. When
we went
to rescue him and Teal'c in the glider, Dad knew for sure.
So,
when did we know? I can't speak for him, but I know one
thing.
It wasn't any of those specific instances. It was both before
and
after - enduring throughout our time together. It was, and is,
both a
single moment in time and a series of events. Without a
beginning
and without an end. Continuous and unbroken. We are it,
and it
is us.
