Everybody is very excited at Regent Publications this week. The first
ebook of Roy Gaveston-Knight's ten volume collection is nearing completion.
It should be released in about 10 days, with the others following at roughly
two week intervals.
You can read below in our exclusive interview about his fascinating life which
has spawned over 1000 published poems - many of them prize winning - and
there will be a chance for three lucky readers to win a copy of "Wagon Trails",
(Book 1).
On the writing side of things, we have made a number of useful contacts over the
past week who will be providing lots of useful information to boost you writing.
Don't forget to send us your comments or questions about art, writing, photography
or any aspect of the freelancing business or just tell us about your latest success
so we can pass it on. The following message from Angela Chambers raises an
interesting question you might like to comment on.
Her poetry was recently accepted for publication, but when she enquired about
whether she would receive a contributors complementary copy her work was
returned with these comment from Editor Elizabeth Boyd."I produce this
magazine to make money and have no intention of letting it go the same way
as many others by giving away copies".
I can't wait to hear your comments.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3- Latest Market Information
BOOKLOCKER JR.
If your child is a writer, we'd love to publish their book
on Booklocker! You'll have to fill in the forms, but the
writing is up to them. Be sure to list the author's age
when signing up. Booklocker Jr. was Ali's idea.
Cute, huh? As soon as we have ten books authored
by children, we will add a Booklocker Jr. page to
feature their books (should take about a week).
If you have a scanner, your child can even illustrate
their own book. Scan the pictures they draw and
then copy and paste them into the appropriate page
in the book. We have a sample ebook available
in MSWord (so you can manipulate it). Download here:
http://www.booklocker.com/sampleebook.zip
Getting list on Booklocker is free, of course.

Exclusive Interview with Roy Gaveston-Knight
"The Warwickshire Poet" on the Wagon Trails
Today Roy Gaveston-Knight, 78, lives in retirement with wife Mary
in a small south Wales town not far from Swansea. Still fit and very
active his appearance gives away no clue to the remarkable events
of his life which have lead to hundreds of awards, over 1000
published poems, and friendships with Royalty, several Lords and
some of the top names in the world of poetry.
Born In Nottingham, England he moved to Kenilworth in Warwickshire
at 3 years-old when his father opened a garage there. He first displayed
signs of his developing talents at school but world events took hold when
he enlisted as a radar operator in the Royal Navy during the war.
"I had already decided by the time I was 14 that I wanted to devote my life
to the Lord. I went on to study at Oxford and it was there that I entered
the ministry. In many ways the ministry has both helped and been helped
by my love of poetry, which I feel is a God-given gift".
"Over the years I have had poems published in about 450 different publications,
written sonnets for the Queen and Princess Diana, read my poetry for Lords
and read on the BBC and many American radio Stations. Mary and I have just
returned from a tour of the United States where we met many wonderful people
and my poem Catrina's Harp was read a great many stations."
"There is an atmosphere in all things American. It is not so much the well-known
southern drawl.. or in that quickfired lingo, as that which is realised in one's
knowledge of their marvellous achievements. We enjoyed this experience on our
visit and in Wagon Trails I have tried to share our sense of wonder and the sheer
beauty seen in all the States, be it the high range or vast vista over the plains
and valleys. This anthology is our salute to the great American tradition, to its
people and to its culture, successes and our vital friendships".
Wagon Trails is dedicated to the late Dr Sudhakar Joshi, a member of the
original Board of Directors of the National Association for Multicultural
Education. His wife Aida Alcala Joshi, Professor of International and
Multicultural Education at the University of San Francisco tells of her first
meeting with Roy at the 1995 annual conference of the International Society of
Poets in the Washington Hilton in the Foreword of Wagon Trails.
"It was one of those casual meetings at the lobby of the hotel and although I did
make the acquaintances of other poets from the U.S. and other countries, Roy
and Mary turned out to be my most regular correspondents. It was a delight
receiving poems from Roy to match occasions such as significant family celebrations.
Each exchange of letter including poetry, narrowed down the distance between Wales
and California. Roy's new anthology is an impressive collection that immortalises the
United States of America. It embodies themes of every conceivable feature that glorify
the grandeur that is the United States - its historic symbols, its awesome natural wonders.
Wagon Trails is a monument in poetry, a tribute to the United States of America. We
salute The Warwickshire Poet for this marvellous collection."
Rare and magnificent praise for any writer. If this were just another collection from a
well-known poet it would be a note worthy event, but when that poets work has been
read and enjoyed by president Ronald Regan and First lady Nancy it has to be
something rather special. Wagon Trails Book II is dedicated to President Regan
having been written in demand for a further collection.
Roy continues. "Many of the poems have been read individually or in small groups
and always received with enthusiasm. I have been told by several teachers and
lecturers that beside their poetic quality they would be an invaluable educational
tool for historians and geographers."
Being a soughtafter poet would be enough for most people, but many of the poems
in these two 60 piece anthologies are illustrated with Roy's own illustrations, making
them a visual masterpiece also.
But what makes a successful 78 year-old internationally know poet who has only
just graduated from his trusty old typewriter to a word processor, and who has
never used the Internet decide to publish his award winning life's work in ebook
format?
Roy will answer this question and tell us more about his amazing life, including
the tale of his fishing trip, the Lord and the fox in next weeks edition.
Wagon Trails (60 poems & 20 illustrations) will be available for download
or on 3 1/2 in disc from March 21 from Regent Publications for $9 or you
can order Wagon Trails I & II for $16. There is a further $2 discount off
the price of both for orders received before the end of March.
Payment can be made by cheque, International Money order or credit card.
