Ron Phillips
Ron Phillips is 55, married and lives in Derbyshire. He has
previously published one book,"The Risk Business" in 1989 and has had considerable
successes in poetry competitions.
He started this novel twenty years ago, soon after returning
from six years in Uganda and Kenya; however, professional and
personal pressures meant it was never completed.
He resumed the task in the nineties after retiring from his post
as senior lecturer at a local Tertiary College.
Set in the years 1967-69, in a Northern University town, Visions
is both a love story, and a political novel - as well as being to some
degree autobiographical. Fundamentally it is an elegy - certainly
to the sixties, but perhaps to a century as well.
Ron Won the 1999 Voyage Poetry competition with his epic 240
line poem "This Monkey Land"
