Richard Parsons was the son of Richard (Sr.) Parsons and Margaret Payne.
He immigrated from Ireland with his parents and siblings to Zanesville, Ohio in 1848.
Richard (Sr.)'s brothers, Charles and William, sister Hannah, and mother, Hannah Parsons preceded him to Zanesville in 1841. Another sister of Richard (Sr.), Maria, had married John Banks in Ireland and they immigrated to Zanesville in about 1838.
