Mo'st ar IPA notationz and beist on the old Saxon ogmented Latin alfabet.  Twu notations, Spanglish and Gus's Iqiz alau 2 saunds per letter. Henry Sweet, the famous Oxford Saxonist,  experimented with a variety of notations and influenced som of the choices meid for IPA.  In his Principles of Spelling Reform, he experiments with sound assignments that deviat from IPA such as oo- u: and ee - i: He favored oa for ou and ao for awe.
Sweet's Broad Romic Notations
This transcription is representative of Sweet's broad romic notations.  He worked with several as he tried to come up with a script that could be easily read by English speakers yet reflected its Saxon origins. BR is more phonemic than Spanglish
Spanglish assigns up to two sounds per letter which results in some ambiguity.  This can be avoided only through the use of diacritics. Spanglish tries to remain consistent with Latin and Spanish.  Other related notations can, e.g., use ii or iy for i:
Spanglish can only mark or change the short i.
In the poem below the y is used for the short i.

Sweet experimented with a wide variety of notations.  The one above substitutes oa for ou and ao for awe.  It also uses oo for u: and ee for i:.
I do not think the directly above was one of his best. Here he was trying to get as close to TES as possible. ü and ä certainly work better than v and a. but are not as readily available on the keyboard. Delta for dh actually looks better than the eth.

Iqliz version [ q=ng so this is the transcription of English ]
Gus wraits:    There are several places where digraphs may have been used in Iqliz (as
''griyd', 'poynt', 'awt', 'tayt'r' and 'brayt'r), but as the object  for Iqliz is one letter per sound or similar sounds, where possible, and it's still understandable, I felt justified in leaving them out.

Which notation is easier to read?

Which is easier to pronounce aloud?
This version is a less phonemic and  closer to traditional English.
Spanglish / SPanglic-Saxon
