Cross Vermont Trail AssociationFriends of the Cross Vermont Trail:
Interested in a little early season trailwork? Don't mind a little mud but hate blackflies? Want to help clean up a beautiful section of the former Montpelier/Wells River railbed?
East Montpelier Trails, Inc. and the East Montpelier Solid Waste District are hosting a clean-up/green-up day on their section of the Cross Vermont Trail, and they need willing volunteers. The solid waste dept has set aside 2 large dumpsters, and will be bringing in large utility vehicles to drag nearly 500 dumped tires from the side of the railbed between Rte 14 and the Plainfield town line. They need people to help hook the tires to chain hooks, as well as to pick up any trash in the area.
Everyone will be meeting at 9AM, on Saturday, May 6th; at the trailhead on Rte 14, approx 1 mile East of Rte 2. The work is supposed to run through the afternoon, but anyone is welcome to come to work as little or as long as they want. Food may be provided, but people are asked to bring their own.

Hope to see you there.
