The northwest boundary of Groton State Forest west of Lanesboro marks the official end of the Groton State Forest Section  of the Cross Vermont Trail!

The trail runs east from the State Forest Boundary along the edge of a swampy area through Lanesboro, to cross Route 232 a short distance north of the Kettle Pond Parking Area. The trail then continues through the woods roughly parallel to Route 232 to Lakeside.

Note that the reference marks in the historic railroad station listing suggests that Lanesboro was nothing more than a rural train stop!
