Dear Rail Trail Friends,

We in Vermont are at a crucial stage in the creation of the Island Line Rail Trail that actually goes through Lake Champlain on old railroad causeways.  You may have seen the Summer 2000 cover story in Rails-To-Trails highlighting our efforts.

To link sections of this old railbed we are operating "bike ferries" where bridges were dismantled three decades ago.  To improve the docking for one of the ferries, we must acquire and conserve the scenic parcel you see pictured here.

With a boat ramp and scenic vistas, our proposed Delta Park South would be an exemplary "alternative transportation" park that belongs in the public's hands.

We have $95,000 left to raise and until October 31st to do it.  Can you help us?  We have one foundation that wants to see more regional support for this effort before they contribute.  You contribution will be leveraged many times!

The property is zoned waterfront commercial and the seller is eager to sell the property.  The Lake Champlain Land Trust, the Trust for Public Lands, the Winooski Valley Park District and Burlington Bikeways are collaborating to conserve this 1-acre parcel on the Winooski River's delta and Lake Champlain.

Please make a tax-deductable gift to help preserve this special place.  For a tour or with questions please contact:
