Topographic map of Burlington Yd

The lakeside picnic area near the sewage treatment plant and the railroad yard. Digital Picture by Kenyon F. Karl on July 25, 1999.

The camera rested on the high railing of the footbridge to take the otherwise impossible picture of the rail-with-trail section just south of the Burlington Railroad Yard. Digital Photograph by Kenyon F. Karl on July 25, 1999.

The trail runs in a narrow corridor between the railroad and private property about a mile south of the railroad yard. Digital Picture by Kenyon F. Karl on July 25, 1999.
The trail swings away from the railroad to traverse the streets of the Lakeside Community, then runs along the lake front and through Oakledge Park, crossing the railroad at Home Street (CCTA Garage), then runs along Queen City Park Rd then crossing Route 7 just south of the I-89 exit to enter Farrell Park. However, this section is not covered in detail since it stops being a rail-trail or rail-with-trail when it enters the streets of the Lakeside Community. Also due to time constraints, the webmaster's personal checking of the rail-trail ended at the Lakeside Community!

Outdoor sculpture and lakeside picnic tables are located just outside the
administrative offices of the sewage treatment plant beside the railroad yard. Toilets
and drinking water are apparently available inside the small brick
building during normal weekday office
hours.
The
(CCTA) Lakeside
(L) bus loops through the Lakeside Community on every round-trip, but this
service alternates between the inbound and the outbound trip in a hard to
remember manner. All CCTA busses have bike racks!
