An inspection of the aerial photograph suggests that the trail is open in both directions from the presumed site of Phillipston station, and this suspicion is backed by clear evidence of trail use at the associated road crossing. It is presumed that local trail clubs have improved the railroad crossing of the Burnshirt river between Williamsville and Phillipston Stations to the point that it is safe for year-round trail usage.

"When I was out there quite a while back, there were the beams from the railroad still there. I was curious one day. I knew that there was a water crossing somewhere. By now, it must be decked over. It was not too far south from the historic stone bridge."
