The crystal detector is mounted inside the cabinet, with adjustable spring tension adjustment to improve detection. The headphones shown are high impeadance type headphones circa 1920s manufactured by Briggs & Stratton. A photocopy of a piece of Parkin sales literature is on the left. This was a radio designed for fixed or portable operation.
This crystal radio set is part of WB6FZH's Northern California Collection. This set was last in use in April of 1998 in Weaverville, California. Stations from Los Angeles, Salt Lake City, and San Francisco were easily heard with a longwire antenna.
More information will be posted about the Parkin Manufacturing Company describing the manufacturing of tube sockets, dials and radios.
