Plot Summary: 15 years after a creature called an angel killed half of the world's population, an organization called NERV has created a weapon called an Evangelion (or EVA for short) to battle the angels and prevent that from happening again. Shinji Ikari is a normal boy chosen to pilot the EVAs, along with future companions he shall encounter. But what exactly is an EVA? Why are the angels killing us? And what is nerv really after? The Review: I must say that I love this series and totally obsessed with it [and I'll always have a little crush on asuka ;) ]. The series starts out like one of those "big robot blowing stuff up" series, but it becomes SO much more. The first 4 episodes were pretty boring, but that can be forgiven because they just wanted to introduce characters and set the mood for the series. I thought the animation was not that great in some episodes, but really good in others. I liked the characters (even though many people don't) because each one has their own problems to work out and their own story to tell. The sound and music were great, and the soundtrack includes some very famous songs, including "Fly me to the Moon" (by Neil Armstrong), "Kanon in D (in Death and Rebirth)", and "Ode to Joy". However, something awful happened around episode 19! Anno, the creator of the show, realized he was running out of time and money to answer the show's questions. The result was a heap of poorly answered questions, and either the answers were complete nonsense or they were not answered at all! And the last two episodes were a joke! But taking all into consideration, the beginning and middle were still very well done and enjoyable, so it's saved from anything lower than 4 stars. Rating: 4 stars ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Hey, wait a minute! Where are you going? Oh no, I'm not done yet. You see, fans of the show were so pissed off about the ending, they begged Gainax to give Anno some more money to make an alternate ending, and the result was called Neon Genesis Evangelion Redone! (Thats what i like to call it anyway) EVA redone is exactly the same, expect episodes 21-24 had about 5 minutes added to them to better explain a few things and the last two episodes completely changed into something called "the End of Evangelion". Now this is what I wanted! Finally, some friggin' answers! Everthing in eva redone is much better than the original, with the exception of episode 26, which is exactly like the original last two episodes (you would think Anno learned his lesson, but no!), but I suppose out of 26 episodes only one being complete crap is acceptable. Unfortunantly, EVA Redone will probably never be released in the USA, except for End of EVA which just came out. Rating: 5 stars ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
