You know, I've heard so many people say "This movie rocks! you must see it!" and "This movie has soooo much action in it, its incredible!", and now that I've seen it, I've got a few things to say about that. Yes, this has lots of big guns and a large helping of explosions to boot, but it's really not that good. My first complaint is the plot. It's pretty lame and is worsened by a few plot holes. Basically, Noah's Ark has been found and two teams of super-soldiers both want it. One team is a group of cyborgs that want to use it to control the Earth. The other team, the Spriggans, want to destroy it so no one can use it. Yep, thats it. Very simple. My second complaint is the characters. Now, when I say "team", I mean the cyborgs only have 3 people and the spriggans have 2. Yes, only 2. Worse, one of the two is a gay French guy whose purpose to the movie isn't really explained, but is probably there just so they can call themselves a "team". The other guy, whose name is Yu, is the most developed character. He's actually pretty cool. Two of the villains are pretty sweet; one is this little weird guy that shoots thin strings which appear harmless but slice through you like tiny invisible swords, and the other guy is this huge guy with a big-ass chain gun with a bullet-proof suit. The third villain is definitely the most powerful, except for the fact that he's 10 years old. What the f**k's up with that?! These villains wouldn't have been worth complaining about if it weren't for the fact that with all the cool missiles and bombs and guns in this movie, Yu kills these guys with a knife. Yeah, thats right. Just a knife. In fact, the only characters that are developed at all are the guy with the big-ass chain gun, who is killed halfway through the movie, and Yu. (P.S. You do NOT kill the movie's best villain in the middle of the movie!) I do have to say, though, that the animation is very nice and the action is incredible. Yet, the sound and voice acting are just average. But what really hurts this anime are the plot holes, the lame plot itself, and the undeveloped characters. With a better plot and better characters, this would have been a great movie. Sure, Spriggan has lots of action, but there are VERY major flaws. They were so bad that I didn't even care about the fights anymore. I just wanted it to end. Rating: 2 out of 5 stars ![]() ![]() |
