This series is set after the Japanese Beast Wars series.
It covers the continuing adventures of the Cybertron commander Convoy
(Optimus Primal), the Destron commander Megatron, and their armies on
Earth while the original Transformers remain offline aboard their ship.
Links to scans of the
catalogs
are at the bottom of the page.
Here (238K, figure, 11/3/99)
is Yao Pang's scan of the bottom of the VS-40 Convoy versus Megatron box
containing other figures available at that time. The actual whole picture is
here (60K, figure, 1/28/00),
which I scanned from the bottom of the X-9 Jaguar (Beast Wars Ravage) box.
The following are scans from ViceGripX
(orioneos@sprynet.com,
http://www.wildrun.com)
of the Transmetal 2 (TM2) figures from the
Comic Bom-Bom magazine.
- TM2 Megatron versus Metals Powered Convoy
(133K, figure, 12/1/99).
Powered Convoy is the Japanese name for Optimal Optimus.
- TM2 Megatron
(213K, figure, 12/1/99).
Powered Convoy is also in the picture in his gorilla mode.
- TM2 figures
(215K, figure, 12/1/99).
In the upper left is TM2 Blackarachnia with a screenshot and
a look at her dual-spark feature. Below her are the ivory-color
TM2 Dinobot and Tigerhawk. In the upper right is TM2 Cheetor
with a screenshot. Below him are screenshots from the Beast Wars
Metals game as seen in the next picture.
- Screenshots from the Beast Wars Metals
game
(82K, series, 12/1/99).
Metals Convoy (Transmetal Optimus Primal) and Metals Taransu
(Transmetal Tarantulas) are featured.
Jaguar (Beast Wars Ravage)
A Destron sent by the Tripredacus Council to Earth to deal with Megatron,
this Jaguar (Beast Wars Ravage) was a rebuilt version of the original Jaguar.
After a talk with the captured Megatron, he eventually turned around and
attacked his Cybertron allies. He and his ship were destroyed in the end.
Although a figure wasn't released for him in America by Hasbro, Takara made one
for him in Japan, based on Metals Cheetas (Transmetal Cheetor) with new colors
and new parts.
The following are my pictures and scans of Jaguar (Beast Wars Ravage):
- Front of box
(103K, figure, 1/28/00).
Looks really cool! There is a Destron/Decepticon symbol behind the newer
symbol. He comes with a trading and specs card with a motion image on front.
- Back of box
(121K, figure, 1/28/00).
In the upper left are some demonstrations. The uppermost and leftmost
picture is his robot mode. The picture to the right of that is his
feature, a quick-draw action of his pistols swinging up from underneath
his lower arms. The brownish grey pistols can be removed and inserted
sideways onto his rear legs in beast mode, as shown in the picture below
the previous two.
To the right are some scenes from the Beast Wars Metals show accompanying
a description of the series.
- Left side of box
(67K, figure, 1/28/00).
The three bubbles show the three stickers (Newer Destron/Predacon symbol,
Megatron's head, and original Destron/Decepticon symbol) which can be
applied to the chest panel underneath his black swing-door chest panels.
The quick-draw pistols feature is repeated here beside his robot mode picture.
- Right side of box
(59K, figure, 1/28/00).
The bubble contains a scene of the Tripredacus Council members from the
series. Below that is his beast mode.
- Close right side view of head
(22K, figure, 1/28/00).
The same head is used for both beast and robot modes. He has a movable
lower jaw.
- Close front view of head
(27K, figure, 1/28/00).
- In jaguar beast mode with jets deployed
(38K, figure, 1/28/00).
Those jets look much more like the rockets on his original 'Generation 1'
jaguar/cassette form than the pistols attached to the sides of his rear legs.
The robot arms prevent his underside from being streamlined, but I turned
the black pegs for those pistols so that they face forward, as another set
of weaponry.
- Above view of beast mode with deployed jets
from the front right side
(31K, figure, 1/28/00).
As you can tell from this and the previous picture, his 'black' chrome is
actually a very dark purple.
His color photo instructions from the back of the catalog packed with him
can be found
here,
added on 1/21/00. Also included are color drawings of the original Transformers
led by the original Convoy (Optimus Prime) and Megatron in battle.
Here (151K, figure, 1/28/00)
is the back side of the trading/specs card with his specifications.
The left side has one of the two pictures in the motion image on the
card's front side. On the right side, clockwise from the upper right
are his specs with the following traits and their numbers:
Strength 5
Intelligence 8
Speed 5
Endurance 6
Rank 8
Courage 4
Firepower 8
Skill 10
Here is an English translation of the specs by Doug Dlin
(apcog@hotmail.com): LATEST
X-9 Intelligence Saboteur/METALS JAGUAR
Jaguar is a veteran soldier from the age of the original Destrons, [but]
having undergone organic reconstruction, he has lost his older memories.
He can use his Reflect Shade ability to conceal himself. Jaguar has
received orders to wipe out all Transformers on the planet Energois.
Compared to his original form's specs, his new form's specs are exactly the
same except for an increase by one in both rank and firepower, which makes
sense for his new role in this series.
CATALOGS:
Beast Wars Metals Catalogs
This includes the front side of the Transformers: Beast Wars Metals catalog,
added on 1/21/00, thanks to Yao Pang
(yjpang@ufl.edu), who
scanned the one from his VS-40 Convoy versus Megatron set.
The back side contains color photos for the two's transformation instructions,
so that side would look different for each of the versus sets. The ones for
Convoy and Megatron, scanned by Yao Pang, and Jaguar (Beast Wars Ravage),
scanned by me, are included.
Also included is a scan, thanks to Jeff Morris
(jbmorris@steel.ucs.indiana.edu),
of a back side with no instructions but a checklist of all Transformers figures
from Japan's Beast Wars, Beast Wars II, Beast Wars Neo, and through Beast Wars
Metals.
