From
A Distance
by
Tigress Parker
From a distance, watching every move she makes is like watching a tigress prowling around her
domain. The deadly beauty and those haunting blue eyes that look as though they could penetrate walls and read minds was a terrifying presence to be in if you're not
prepared.
Watching her from the shadows as she stalked through the hallway with an air of dominance surrounding
her, my attention is attracted to the sight of the suede mini-skirt. The tiny skirt crept up with every powerful stride she
took, showing a little more thigh that wasn't already visible, of the legs that seemed to go on for
days.
At the sudden stop of her seductive stalking, I take a step back into the
shadows, fearing that she was aware of being watched. It was a false alarm. I begin to breathe shallowly as Broots walks up to her with a box in his hand while Sydney stood behind
him.
A high IQ wasn't required to know who the package was from when it was almost visible that Parker's blood was boiling as it surged through her icy
veins. Jarod. The Centre's earth and sky. The Centre's - not hers. Never hers. The Centre's prowling icy-veined tigress has her own motivations that do not entirely revolve around
him, yet he doesn't seem to grasp that concept.
He made the same mistake that every one here does - underestimation. This is what the
stalking, bad-tempered, blue-eyed beauty thrives on; they won't expect anything when her sharp talons unsheathe and her mighty paw comes crashing
down, swatting them into nothingness.
Everyone but me. I know exactly what drives her: hate, anger, pain and revenge - the basic primal emotions drive her and maintain that mighty ever-present defensive
mechanism.
I think Sydney may have respect towards her, her temper warrants it, but I doubt if he has the knowledge of what she is capable
of, and just how deep everything runs inside her. That makes him as guilty as the rest of
them. He underestimates her.
Watching her stalk away with her two ever-present stooges, I melt away with no one the wiser of my
observations. The thoughts, feelings and emotions that lie below the surface are an indecent
obsession, but while they stay in the cloaking shadows no one will ever know of their
existence. Not even her.
Secrecy has always been the key to The Centre. And that's how it will remain.
