Cell Phone Buffoons

Cell Phone Boors Who Make Asses Of Themselves In Public

One afternoon of Thursday, January 4, 2001, I was leaving a small shoe store that was located on  the corner of Dey Street and Broadway, across the street from the World Trade Center Mall in lower Manhattan.  There, I became a witness to a public spectacle; a short and stocky woman was seen shouting obscenities on her cellular phone on a crowded street during the busy hour after twelve noon.  I had to wonder, why does she have to shout all of her business for everyone to hear on her little phone?  By all means keep your personal  matters to yourself, after all no one wish to hear any of your boyfriend problems and gossip that has to turn into obscenities in loud volumes that others can hear you just three blocks down!  What I don't get, is why do these people discuss things in public that should be discussed privately? Why does these blabber mouths or... may I say foul-mouths shout all of their business on the cell phone as if they were the only ones who mattered? This woman's voice was so loud and filthy, it's a wonder that no police was called on her!  There should be a law against shouting filth on the cell phone in public, for it not only violates the rights of the people who are forced to listen to foul-mouth conversations that they do not wish to hear at all, it also makes sensible cell phone users look real bad.   I for one, find it very annoying and downright rude to be  shouting  on the cell phone in public.  When I purchased my first cell phone, and had little knowledge of how phones should be used, I knew first hand, not to use it in public to shout all my business,  making a public spectacle of myself.  But if I was to use it in a public place, it would be where there are very few people around, and I WOULD certainly speak on the phone with my voice at a low volume where no one would hear what I'm saying.    Etiquette is supposed to be accompanied with the use of cell phones, obviously there are just some buffoons who never uses it when it comes to using cell phones.
