was in the obituary for Dan Morrison of Massena concerning the origins of his grandfather Donald Morrison. It also said his "mothers people were natives of that country as well". I have found baptismal records at Kirkhill Presbyterian church that listed Malcolm's parents as Donald Morrison and Margaret Campbell residing on lot 3 conc 9 Kenyon. The parish records in Glenelg list a Donald Morrison and Margaret Campbell as being married Dec 1809, however I don't know if they emigrated to Canada. At any rate I do know Malcolm was born here in Canada in 1821 , so I know they arrived by 1820. Possibly Donald arrived some years earlier as a boy with his parents as well? The Kirkhill records also list births for a Sarah and Ivor, that would be younger siblings of Malcolms' Malcolm married twice, first to Nancy Ann McCrimmon, her parents were Duncan and Isabella (MacLeod), and Duncan came with his father John and other siblings on the "Eliza" in 1815 from Glenelg/Skye Scotland and settled in West Hawkesbury. When Nancy died in 1865 Malcolm remarried Peggy Campbell, whose father Angus Campbell brought the family over in 1832 on the Fanny and settled in Roxborough Stormont county, they were also from the Island of Skye.

Related families include Campbell, MacLeod, MacCrimmon and MacRae from Glengarry Campbells were from Skye and came over 1832 on the Fanny and settled in Stormont. MacCrimmons came in 1815 with the MacRaes and settled originally in West Hawkesbury and worked their way down to Lancaster. The MacLeods I'm assuming were from Skye or Glenelg ,since groups of families from Scotland tended to congregate once they reached Canada. |
